Lio Rush might return to AEW ‘in the near future’

Earlier this year, Lio Rush appeared at AEW’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view as a mystery entrant in the Casino Battle Royale. Afterwards, AEW President Tony Khan talked about having a handshake deal with Rush where he could wrestle for both AEW and New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW).

Less than two weeks later, Lio Rush abruptly announced his retirement from pro wrestling, while vowing to finish his contractual obligations with NJPW. Lio expressed gratitude to Tony Khan for his interest in signing him to a deal; Khan made it clear that both parties were on good terms with each other.

After recovering from the injury he suffered at Double or Nothing, Rush has indeed been wrestling for NJPW Strong this summer.

Could a return to AEW be possible? Earlier today, Khan indicated that something might be happening between Lio Rush and AEW in the near future:

Khan has made it clear there is no such thing as a full roster in pro wrestling, which means AEW has plenty of room to add Lio Rush back into the mix.

Do you hope to see Lio Rush return to AEW soon, Cagesiders?
