The first AEW match of Paul Wight’s career was booked for tonight’s (Sun., Sept. 5, 2021) All Out pay-per-view (PPV) at the Now Arena in Chicago, Illinois, against QT Marshall. They’ve put together a nice little feud, with Wight saving his commentary partner Tony Schiavone from Marshall and his henchman and that leading to this here match.
It’s just unfortunate they put were put in the ninth position on the card, sandwiched between CM Punk’s first match in seven years and Kenny Omega defending the AEW world championship against Christian Cage.
The match, then, was what you would expect.
Marshall got some offense in, sure, but this was about Wight getting some licks in and finishing him off with a choke slam in relatively short order. He gave the crowd a thumbs up on his way out, and that was that.
Moving along now.
