After going through the five “Labours of Jericho,” winning each of them before falling to MJF in the fifth and final match, a desperate Chris Jericho laid out a challenge to the man who had put him through so much — one more singles match between the two and if Jericho lost this time, he would never wrestle in AEW again.
So they went to All Out tonight (Sun., Sept. 5, 2021) at the Now Arena in Chicago, Illinois, to have their “Final Fight.”
It started with one glorious troll:

Then continued with a genuine attempt at something epic that felt more like a troll:

The match was a plodding affair that felt like it went on a bit too long without much action. MJF sold the hell out of a back injury while Jericho moved at a snail’s pace. In a strange turn of events, Wardlow & Jake Hager hit the scene to provide a distraction to the referee, who missed MJF launching a sneak attack and scoring a pinfall off it. Only Jericho put his foot on the bottom rope and the referee simply missed it.
Another ref hit the scene during the ensuing celebration to inform Aubrey, and the match restarted.
That’s when the crowd really came alive, as they traded near falls and submissions. It was the Walls of Jericho that finally did the job, with MJF unable to handle the strain it put on the back he was selling so much throughout the match.
Jericho sticks around.
