From pretty much the birth of All Elite Wrestling, it seemed destined Britt Baker would be the early face of the women’s division. Though some injuries have gotten in the way, for the most part that’s been the case.
Hey, there’s a reason CM Punk specifically shouted her out in his return promo.
As for Kris Statlander, she was out of action for eight months after suffering a knee injury but it was clear there were bigger things lined up for her. She quickly went on a winning streak upon her return and eventually became top contender.
They got down to it at All Out tonight (Sun., Sept. 5, 2021) in Chicago, the women’s championship on the line.

The match was solid, save for a scary suplex from the top rope that Statlander struggled to get Baker over for. Late in the match, Statlander was on the outside, having taken a curb stomp and Orange Cassidy got uncharacteristically hyped to get her back in the match.
It didn’t matter.
Baker hit a Pittsburgh Sunrise — which the crowd went insane for, and sure felt like a tease — for two, another curb stomp for two, and then the Lockjaw to score the submission victory.
