Sammy Guevara’s first challenger is a former NXT star

New, comments

AEW and TNT had a plan to get wrestling fans to stick around for the premiere of Cody & Brandi’s Rhodes To The Top reality show tonight (Sept. 29).

After Dynamite closed with Sammy Guevara capturing the TNT title, we were told to stick around because we’d hear from the new champ during the first commercial break of Rhodes To The Top. Before that happened, this showed up in the timeline...

When the new TNT champ popped up again on the network he now represents, Guevara accepted Bobby Fish’s challenge. That match is on for next Wednesday. Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky also showed up on the Rhodes To The Top segment to call next after Fish.

The 44 year old Fish was one of the talents WWE released from NXT unexpectedly back in early August. A former Tag champ both there and in Ring of Honor, he was part of the Undisputed ERA stable with AEW’s Adam Cole. He’s booked to debut for MLW at their tapings this weekend. An MMA-style striker and technical wrestler, he should make for a fun opponent for the Spanish God... even if there’s little doubt about the outcome.

Excited for Fish vs. Guevara?
