Next Wednesday (Oct. 6), AEW will celebrate the second anniversary of Dynamite’s premiere episode back on Oct. 2, 2019. They announced several segments for that date in Philadelphia on this week’s edition of the show.
Former NWA Women’s champ Serena Deeb has been on the shelf for a while recovering from a knee injury. Former AEW Women’s champ Hikaru Shida has been off television since May because... reasons. They’ll both be back and looking to make a statement when they face each other next week.
.@shidahikaru is after 50 wins in #AEW, but to get there, she has to get through the Woman of 1,000 Holds @SerenaDeeb next Wednesday on #AEWDynamite's Anniversary Show - Tune in to @tntdrama NOW to watch #AEWDynamite LIVE! pic.twitter.com/IutSTKhEWn

AEW will also bring back their Casino Ladder Match for a future World title shot on next week’s Dynamite. Scorpio Sky, who won a similar match at this year’s Revolution PPV, reminded us about the concept during his promo with Dan Lambert and his Men of the Year partner Ethan Page. No entrants have been announced for next week’s version, but I’d bet on Sky & Page being two of them. Could a certain Anxious Millennial Cowboy get involved, and maybe even win to work around that pesky stipulation that says he lost his shot at Kenny Omega’s belt?
Finally, The Elite’s battle with the babyfaces of AEW will continue. Kenny Omega doesn’t want a rematch with Bryan Danielson, and Danielson gets Nick Jackson on Friday’s Rampage as a result. Then next Wednesday, we’ll get an eight-man tag pitting Bryan, Christian Cage & Jurassic Express against Omega, The Young Bucks & Adam Cole.
Sound like a good way to celebrate an anniversary?
