In this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported AEW had a third big name wrestler lined up to join the company in addition to CM Punk (who debuted on Rampage last night) and Bryan Danielson (who’s expected to be introduced at the “Grand Slam” edition of Dynamite in New York on Sept. 22).
On the latest Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer mentioned a name - Windham Rotunda, who for the last nine years wrestling fans have known as WWE’s Bray Wyatt.
On Wyatt to AEW, Meltzer said:
“It’s most likely happening. It’s at the same stage as Aleister Black long before it happened. I don’t think there’s pen to paper or anything like that but the expectation is pretty strong, put it that way.”
For his part, Rotunda just issued just his second tweet since being released by WWE on July 31. The Eddie Van Halen quote is as open to interpretation as anything we’ve become accustomed to from Bray. One read would be that though his Superstar days are done, he’ll always be a pro wrestler...
Rock Stars come and go. Musicians play until they die.
