Dan Lambert cut the best promo on a Dynamite full of great promos

For a show some doubters & critics still write-off as being a glorified indie spotfest, Dynamite features some of the best talking in pro wrestling. Not that there aren’t several matches a week that are straight out of PWG (whether that’s a good or bad thing is a matter of taste), but Wednesday nights have also brought us a ton of great interviews and promos.

Aug. 18’s show was a standout in that regard. From Shawn Spears off-color remarks about Sammy Guevara’s new fiancee, to Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. introducing her new associate Jaime Hayter, to PAC trash talking Andrade El Idolo to his face, the mic skill of the roster was on full display.

Three promos really stood out. Two from the usual suspects, and one from an unlikely invader.

TNT champion Miro drops a couple lethal lines on us every time he’s on-screen, and his video last night calling out Eddie Kingston was no exception. He serves his Old Testament God during the day, his hot wife at night, and if they don’t come for him, he’ll come for them all.

Jon Moxley starred in a walking & talking segment that ran down his Rampage opponent Daniel Gracia, Kenny Omega & The Elite, Hangman Page, Christian Cage... but also seemed to be directed at one or two unnamed former WWE co-workers.

The most impressive performance (IMO, anyway) was from Impact vet and American Top Team head man Dan Lambert. Content-wise, it’s pretty boilerplate anti-fan rhetoric, and Lambert had some pretty impressive props in former UFC champions Andrei Arlovski & Junior Dos Santos. But he delivered it like an absolute pro. No slips, rising emotion, good prompts for the crowd to jeer him & subsequent reactions to those. Just a really great heel promo that set the stage for a Men of the Year vs. Lance Archer feud - and from an outsider, albeit one that’s clearly studied the business.

Let us know what you favorite mic moments were from last night, and check out all the highlights from the Aug. 18 Dynamite, below.

YouTube videos `are being doled out slowly, as is AEW’s model these days. But we’ve compiled what they’ve released as of this morning in this playlist, and tried to catch you up with the rest of the episode via Twitter clips below that.
