Friday’s Rampage card also makes it clear The First Dance is all about CM Punk

AEW’s Twitter

Subtle and not-so-subtle teases aside, AEW has not announced what everyone is expecting for Aug. 20’s “The First Dance” edition of Rampage in Chicago’s United Center.

That didn’t change when they laid out the card for Friday night during this week’s episode of Dynamite. But the line-up again makes it clear they better deliver on CM Punk. Because I don’t think the sold out house will be satisfied with this fun but pretty predictable slate of matches.

- Jon Moxley will be in action, taking on Daniel Garcia in a match set-up by Garcia & 2.0 jumping Mox & Eddie Kingston as they were headed to the ring to start the Aug. 18 Dynamite.

- Jurassic Express battles Private Party in the just-announced Tag Title Eliminator Tournament. The winner will go on to face the winner of next Wednesday’s Varsity Blondes/Lucha Bros match with an All Out steel cage shot at The Young Bucks shot at The Young Bucks on the line. After The Bucks screwed Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus in their championship match tonight, then beat them & Christian Cage down with The Elite in the aftermath, Jurassic Express figure to be favorites in the tournament.

- Jade Cargill will take on Kiera Hogan, with That Bitch (her words not mine) promising to treat the Impact-ex the way Miro did Fuego Del Sol last Friday.

As long as that’s all prelude to “Cult of Personality”, it’ll be the historic night Tony Khan is promising. Otherwise, they’re gonna have a lot of angry Chicagoans on their hands.

But they wouldn’t really close the commercial with Excalibur saying “Darby Allin is so close to becoming the Best in the World” if we weren’t getting a Punk/Allin moment, would they?

See you on Friday night at 10 pm ET so we can find out together!
