On the first ever episode of AEW Rampage in Pittsburgh last night (Fri., Aug. 13), it looked like fan favorite underdog Fuego Del Sol had actually put together a winning strategy to upset TNT champion Miro - and earn a contract with the company in the process.
Sadly, those dreams were crushed the same way God’s Favorite Champion has crushed everything in his way over the past several months.

Impressed by his fighting spirit, and the crowd reactions he gets despite only having one win in AEW, Tony Khan gave Sammy Guevara a contract for his best friend Fuego to sign. This may have cheapened the matches stakes, but it was a nice moment. Khan told SI it was a total shoot:
“Fuego had no idea that was going to happen. Sammy was the only person I told, and Fuego was legitimately surprised to receive the contract he’s been dreaming of and chasing.”
It was one of two All Elite announcements on the night. After the main event, Jaime Hayter returned to AEW for the first time since 2019. The former RevPro British Women’s champ and Stardom Undisputed World titleholder will probably make a bigger impact than Del Sol, both because of her new position as Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.’s ally, and because of her potential. The 26 year old Brit has been on a lot of people’s radar - including WWE’s. She had an NXT UK tryout just a few months ago.
Unlike Dynamite, AEW was quick with the Rampage highlight videos. Check em out:
