Broken wrist or not, Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. was a big favorite in the main event of the first episode of AEW Rampage on Fri., Aug. 13. That’s because the show was in Baker’s hometown of Pittsburgh, and the crowd at the Peterson’s Event Center was ready to celebrate.
A hero's welcome in #Brittsburgh for the #AEW Women's World Champion, @RealBrittBaker.

The doctor may have been distracted by the ovation at first, because it was all Velvet right up until the last commercial break of the hour-long show.

With an assist from her injured sidekick , Baker took control during the picture-in-picture portion of the match. Rebel (not Reba) got a little too involved, and referee Paul Turner sent her to the back.
From there, Baker survived a moonsault, and Velvet kicked out after a curb stomp. The challenger tried for Britt’s Lockjaw finisher, and attacked the champ’s injured hand to prevent a counter. Baker finally used her good hand to cinch in the move, and Red Velvet had no choice but to tap.
What a homecoming for @RealBrittBaker as she retains the #AEW Women's World Championship!

After the match, Baker continued the assault. Velvet was saved from a curb stomp on the belt by Kris Statlander, but the Galaxy’s Favorite Alien was taken out by a mysterious woman in a hat. She revealed herself as RevPro’s Jaime Hayter, then raised the champ’s hand to close the episode.
