AEW Dynamite falls under one million viewers for the first time in a month

Last night’s (Aug. 11) episode of AEW Dynamite was headlined by Chris Jericho vs. Wardlow. The episode set up multiple future title matches between world champion Kenny Omega and Christian, while hyping up the debut of Rampage tomorrow night.

So, how did it do in the ratings?

Per Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston, Dynamite brought in an hourly average audience of 979,000 viewers, with a 0.35 rating in the key 18 to 49 year old demographic. These results are a pretty big disappointment compared to last week’s 1,102,000 and 0.46 in those respective metrics. That’s what happens when The Blade doesn’t wrestle.

This is not what AEW was hoping to see with Rampage set to premiere in its challenging time slot this Friday night. The last time Dynamite fell under one million viewers was for the July 7 episode. Perhaps Jericho vs. Wardlow (with MJF at ringside) wasn’t as interesting of a concept for the fourth Labour of Jericho as AEW was banking on.
