AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR AUG. 11

I know I’m hard to stomach, but we need to move and get out of here before this joint erupts, and anywhere we go, we’ll feel stuck Oh, what you want from me is not impossible, just give me some time to figure a way out of this mess, while I liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens with a memorial graphic for the late, great Bobby Eaton.

We get a promo from Maxwell Jacob Friedman and Wardlow.

MJF calls Chris Jericho out and says he can’t beat him and he’s gone through more than he can bear trying to get the match against Max and it’s to the point where even he feels bad that he’s about to get stopped an arm’s length from the finish line by the fastest most volatile big man this business has ever seen.

But let’s say by some grace of the Greek gods Jericho vanquishes his titan and gets the match against MJF, he goes through all that just to find out that he’s still better than him? Wardlow says he’s almost definitely going to beat him, Max points out he failed to beat Cody Rhodes in the cage, and Mr. Mayhem crushes an apple in his bare hands in frustration.

Dante Martin, Matt Sydal, & Mike Sydal vs. the Elite (Kenny Omega, Matt Jackson, & Nick Jackson)

Matt on Matt violence to start, Jackson with a brief advantage but Sydal hits a standing corkscrew moonsault and tags his brother in! Mike up top, double stomp, tags made and Dante gets into it with Nick. Big dropkick sends him running, tag to the other Buck, Omega clobbers Martin from behind! The three babyfaces with triple baseball slides, Rocket Launcher puts Dante into the crush!

Back inside, diving crossbody, tag to Mike, standing shooting star press! Matt with a jawbraker for separation, dropkick, and Sydal finds himself overwhelmed and isolated as the quick tags start! Beating Sydal down at length, eventually he gets a string of sweet evasions and tags his brother in! Matt running wild, crossleg brainbuster... NICK BREAKS IT UP!

Double Frankensteiner on the Bucks, off the ropes, La Mistica into a grounded Cobra Clutch, the match breaks down, Mike joins him with a Muta Lock! Omega breaks it up, Dragon suplexes for everybody, Martin comes in, lands on his feet off a Dragon suplex, enzuigiri staggers the world champ! Dante back in the corner, desperate for the tag and he gets it!

Martin running hot, mounted punches on Matt Jackson, leapfrog over Nick, dropkick, suicide dive on Omega! Springboard Frankensteiner follows it up, back in, quebrada... JACKSON KICKS OUT! Dante heads back up top one more time, jumps down off a distraction and Nick nails him with a knee! The match breaks down into “everybody do something cool” territory, Kenny with a crossleg brainbuster over the knee!

V-Trigger, dragging Dante back to his feet, electric chair, Martin lands on his feet, Pele kick! V-Trigger, reverse the Jay Driller... SCHOOLBOY FOR TWO BUT DANTE MARTIN CAN’T QUITE KEEP THE WORLD CHAMPION DOWN! Kenny with a V-Trigger, the Bucks take the Sydals out with a superkick party, One-Winged Angel isn’t enough...

The Elite win by pinfall with the BTE V-Trigger on Dante Martin.

Post-match, Tony Schiavone tries to interview the Elite but Don Callis yanks the mic away from him and cuts a promo.

He says it’s great to be out here with the greatest tag team in the history of—

Enter Christian Cage.

Callis says Cage isn’t too bright but surely he can count— there’s ten of them and only one of him, he’s outnumbered.

But Jurassic Express have Christian’s back and we go to break!

Back from commercial, and both groups are in the ring with Tony Schiavone.

Don Callis tells Christian Cage he’s getting his title shot against Kenny Omega at All Out, and it’s great, he’s a hell of a wrestler, a hell of a ring general, with one of the best finishers he’s ever seen, and Kenny can’t wait to kick out of it, but he’s not sure why Cage is here. His match is three weeks away, it’s all decided, why not just go wait your turn?

Christian asks Callis if he’s finished and calls him a carny piece of shit before apologizing, because he should have called him a carny jagoff because they’re in Pittsburgh and all. Cage says he spoke with Tony Khan and Impact exec Scott D’Amore and yeah the world title match is locked in for All Out, but Kenny has more than one championship, and guess what?

In that conversation with Scott and Tony, he discovered Kenny *will* be wrestling in Pittsburgh, Friday for Rampage, defending the Impact World Championship against Christian in the first match on that show ever!

Omega flips out and says he doesn’t care who Cage talked to, but the babyfaces walk away while he sputters. But Jungle Boy turns around and says actually he also spoke with Tony and Jurassic Express get a tag title match against the Bucks next week on Dynamite!

The crowd sings along to Baltimora, Kenny briefly stops the music to check and make sure they’re not singing “no-o-o-o” to the news of the title shot, and that’s that.

Malakai Black gets a vignette where he talks about the doubt we all had in him and how eventually you realize you’re arguing with god.

We go to break on a hype reel for the Rhodes family reality show.

Back from commercial, we get a Miro match where the talks about how Fuego del Sol is being offered a contract if he can win against him on Rampage.

Daniel Garcia gets an inset promo where he says he could have beaten Darby Allin by himself and he’s gonna finish the job, and then 2.0 call Sting out and tell him to watch his ass, because pro wrestling is great in 2021.

“Red Death” Daniel Garcia vs. Darby Allin

Collar and elbow, into the corner, Garcia smothers him but breaks at referee Bryce Remsburg’s behest and pats Allin’s cheek. Back to the lockup, Darby with a go-behind, hammerlock, fireman’s carry takeover, side headlock applied. Daniel with a wristlock, keeping control over him, wrenching it around into an armbar, shot off.

O’Connor roll, nope, Garcia bridges out of a followup, backslide, leg pick, Allin in the ropes! Drop toehold, Fujiwara armbar, Red Death into the ropes this time! Collar and elbow, Darby hammerlock, Garcia wrenches his nose, hammerlock, into the ropes but 2.0 run interference and trip Allin! Hammerlock slam into the turnbuckles, Red Death staring into the camera a dark god of violence, and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Garcia is working the arm in the corner, sledgehammer blows, whip across, chops in the corner, Allin gets a step ahead and goes up top but 2.0 distract him and Daniel crotches him in the turnbuckles! Hammerlock slam for two, wristlock stomps to the shoulder into a Lotus Lock, stomping away at Darby’s head but Allin is in the ropes and referee Bryce Remsburg calls for the break!

Big overhand chop wakes Allin up, hauling off with palm strikes of his own, Daniel fires an uppercut back, suplex, Darby floats over, Coffin Drop... COUNTERED INTO A SLEEPER HOLD! Allin counters with a pin, jockeying for position, stanidng Diamond Dust connects and Darby goes up top...

Darby Allin wins by pinfall with the Coffin Drop.

Post-match, 2.0 attack Darby but Sting fights them off! Allin gets into it, spearing and striking, and the Stinger hits a suplex on the ramp! Jeff Parker begs off but the Icon draws him up for punches!

Backstage, Death Triangle are hanging out.

Rey Fenix asks if PAC has seen what Andrade el Idolo has been stirring up and says they need to do something about it. Penta el Zero M says a bunch of stuff, the Bastard cuts Alex Abrahantes off from translating and asks Lucha Brothers to let him focus on Andrade while they go after the gold they deserve.

PAC says they don’t know Andrade or like him and they don’t know why he’s obsessed with Death Triangle, but that stops now, and if he has a problem with what he’s saying, well, anywhere, anytime, come and have a go if you think you’re hard enough, he’s easy to find.

Best Friends (Chuck Taylor, Orange Cassidy, & Wheeler YUTA) vs. Hardy Family Office (Isiah Kassidy, Marq Quen, & Matt Hardy)

Hardy and Cassidy to start, Orange grabs Matt’s hand when he starts deleting and jams it into his pants! Schoolboy for one, Matt with a Side Effect early... NOPE! Up to the second, popping down, Orange rolls to the corner and sidesteps! Cassidy up to the second, down to the first, falling splash... NOT HAPPENING!

Hardy takes him to the corner, Private Party go to work, Orange sidesteps and tags YUTA in! Lazy kicks, Poetry in Motion, Wheeler throws Kassidy to Taylor, Sole Food, Olympic Slam... SO CLOSE! Silly String takes Wheeler out, Isiah clears the apron, cover for two and we go to break.

Back from commercial, YUTA with a double dropkick to Private Party, the path is clear, referee Bryce Remsburg has to manhandle Matt Hardy to keep him from running in! Kris Statlander gets into it with the Bunny and Nyla Rose runs in to blast the Alien! Jack Evans takes Orange out, Taylor tags in, meeting of the minds for Private Party, Chuck takes flight... TOPE CON GIRO!

Back inside, Kassidy cuts him off but Taylor hits a pop-up drop before pop-up powerbombing Quen into him! Revolution powerbomb follows... HARDY BREAKS IT UP! The match goes into “everybody do something cool” overdrive, Chuck with a Rock Bottom, YUTA off the top with a diving splash... QUEN KICKS OUT! Kassidy with a blind tag, YUTA hits a German suplex but Isiah off the top to break it up!

Private Party set Wheeler up top, Taylor runs in, Hardy pulls him out, Quen gets in there, Gin & Juice... ORANGE BREAKS IT UP! Orange Punch on Kassidy, Matt throws Marq into him, lying in wait... TWIST OF FATE ON YUTA, IT’S OVER!

HFO win by pinfall with a Twist of Fate from Matt Hardy on Wheeler YUTA.

Andrade el Idolo and Chavo Guerrero, Jr. are interviewed backstage.

They call PAC ungrateful, pointing out all the gifts they’ve given him, and he should be careful what he wishes for. Chavo suggests Andrade teach PAC who the boss is at All Out, and we go to break.

Back from commercial we get another video package building FTR vs. Ortiz & Santana.

Kris Statlander vs. Nyla Rose

Statlander hard out the gates, roundhouse kick but Rose pounces her halfway outta her boots! Choking her over the bottom rope, Vickie Guerrero with a cheap shot, Kris with body blows, trading forearms, Statlander with the low bridge, slide under, pull Nyla into the apron! Moonsault off the apron, fired up, back inside, Guerrero and Orange Cassidy get into it and she staggers him with her pterodactyl screech!

Nyla with a chokeslam on the apron... NOPE! Rose suplexes her into the ropes, heads up top, but Kris walks on her hands until Nyla pounces her again! Putting her up in the corner, Statlander slips under and hits a powerbomb! Up top...

Kris Statlander wins by pinfall with Area 451.

Backstage the Young Bucks cut a promo mocking “Hangman” Adam Page and talking about how they’ve dominated the entire tag division and proved that they’re the best of all time and it’s gonna be as easy as a layup beating Jurassic Express next week.

He goes to shoot a basketball to prove the point but Jurassic Express run in and dunk on them to send us to break.

Back from commercial, we get a hype reel for Dr. Britt Baker, DMD defending her AEW Women’s World Championship against Red Velvet in the main event of the first AEW Dynamite on Friday night.

Tony Schiavone interviews the good doctor in the ring.

Britt says she really can’t comment on Red Velvet’s rise because it wouldn’t be fair. She can’t relate, because she didn’t have to rise, and she’s always been on top of the division and the baddest bitch on the block, but she can relate to Velvet’s fearlessness, and she wasn’t afraid to step up when this city needed a champion, and she bleeds black and gold as much as anybody here but this has been a difficult year, so she presents Pittsburgh hope, in the form of the women’s title.

And speaking of hope, Red might have had a glimmer of it if they were wrestling in any other city, but not in Brittsburgh.

After the interview, Red Velvet attacks! Referees manage to separate them but only barely!

A video package for Ricky Starks vs. Brian Cage follows.

Dark Order (Evil Uno & Stu Grayson) vs. Good Brothers (Doc Gallows & “Machine Gun” Karl Anderson) (c) (Impact World Tag Team Championship)

Grayson dives on the Brothers during their entrance! Anderson and Uno to start at the bell, Evil chopping him down and tagging Stu in. Manhattan Drop into a dropkick, Uno legal again, schoolboy pin, only two. Quick tags, Brandon Cutler pulls Uno off the apron but gets decked by Colt Cabana right in the nose! Cutler runs away, and Frankie Kazarian comes out to run him over!

Machine Gun standing tall in the ring while Kaz drags Brandon away, Doc drops Grayson with a boot, right hand to Evil and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Grayson with a step-up DDT off of Anderson to take Gallows out! Elbows, big Rock Bottom, twisting quebrada... DOC BREAKS IT UP! Fireman’s carry, Stu’s legs give out, double Pele kick, tag to Uno! Pump kick, knee, kicking him into a belly-to-belly suplex that puts him into Gallows! Stereo cannonball / 450 splash... NOPE!

The match breaks down, Uno with a reverse STO, thinking Fatality but one of the belts got thrown in the ring, Gun Stun, Big Hoot picks Grayson up...

Good Brothers win by pinfall with Magic Killer on Stu Grayson to retain the Impact World Tag Team Championship.

We get a hype reel for Kamille, who Leyla Hirsch will be challenging for the NWA World Women’s Championship.

Tony Schiavone interviews QT Marshall and Aaron Solow in the ring.

QT claims that Tony should be apologizing to him but we don’t have time to wait, so Marshall will apologize to him. Not for pouring the protein shake on his head, but for what they’re going to do his son, Chris Schiavone, right now!

They pull him out of the crowd and beat him up until Tony apologizes! QT doesn’t accept and hits the Diamond Cutter!

PAUL WIGHT IS HERE!

Marshall throws Solow at him, Paul goozles him and keeps his eyes locked on QT as he chokeslams Aaron Solow!

Commentary hypes up the card for the debut edition of AEW Rampage, as well as next week’s Dynamite, to send us to break.

Back from commercial we get a recap of Joey Janela turning on Sonny Kiss on AEW Dark, so I guess that’s gonna lead somewhere on the main show here soon.

Chris Jericho vs. Wardlow (Fourth Labor of Jericho)

Jericho putting the pressure on early, forearms into the corner, Wardlow turns him around and beats him down! Whip across, boots up, Y2J goes up top, diving double axehandle! Codebreaker connects, cover... ONLY ONE! Mr. Mayhem with right hands, a biel, working Chris over, release suplex! To the floor, clubbing blows, into the apron and barricade, hard whip puts Jericho into the barricade!

Military press into the post, ramming Y2J into the barricade, back inside, big powerbomb, he goes for another and gets it after a brief struggle, and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Wardlow still in charge, Jericho gets to his feet, desperation chops, off the ropes, crossbody, Mr. Mayhem hits the F-10! No cover, putting Chris up top but he slips out, Walls of Jericho applied! Rotating him around to keep him from the ropes but MJF wrenches at his nose to save his man!

Referee Aubrey Edwards ejects Friedman when he tries to pass the diamond ring to Mr. Mayhem! Jericho has Floyd and takes advantage of the distraction to nail Wardlow in the face! Winding up...

Chris Jericho wins by pinfall with the Judas Effect, earning himself a fifth labor against Maxwell Jacob Friedman.

Post-match, Shawn Spears attacks Jericho... AND SAMMY GUEVARA MAKES THE SAVE!

They fight, Wardlow gets involved and turns the tide! MJF puts Salt of the Earth on Jericho’s injured arm! He taps to no avail! JAKE HAGER MAKES THE SAVE!

Max gets on the mic from the stage and says Jericho might have won the match and earned another shot at him but he hasn’t heard his stipulation for next week... No Judas Effect, no Judas as his theme, dead silence and no elbows! And if he does hit the Judas Effect, that’s an automatic victory!

He’s got a prediction for next week— Chris is gonna find out that he hasn’t just met his match, but his successor. There’s a new king in town and his name is Maxwell Jacob Friedman.

That’s the show, folks.
