She’s so hot, look at her go, this year’s model at a motor show. Just think what you could do when you get her home, but me? I’m just here to liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.
The show opens with the intro video.
Cody Rhodes vs. QT Marshall (Strap Match)
Rhodes with a dive before the bell! Referee Paul Turner affixes the strap to each man’s hand and we have a bell!
Tug of war to start, Cody with a front kick, drop down slap, right hand, whip across and he’s choking Marshall with it! QT breaks away and dumps Rhodes to the stage! Cody whips him into the ropes and returns to the ring, where Marshall meets him with a throat thrust, into the corner, up and over, whip into a big snap scoop powerslam!
Strap to the midsection, Cody whipping his back, Aaron Solow running interference and getting a cheap shot in but here comes Dustin Rhodes to play equalizer! QT dragging Cody corner to corner, tagging each in turn, Rhodes slapping them as well, trying to leapfrog him, they’re all tangled up in the strap and Marshall hits a German suplex!
Action to the floor, Cody pulls him face-first into the post and heads back inside! Marshall follows, busted open, Cody tagging turnbuckles— and the lights go down! They come back up, Turner continues the count but QT whips Rhodes in for a STO backbreaker / reverse STO combination! Marshall up top, Cody whipping him with the strap, choking him, looking for a Frankensteiner but QT reverses... AVALANCHE POWERBOMB!
Marshall tagging turnbuckles, wrapping Rhodes up in the strap, setting him up top... DIAMOND CUTTER OUT OF THE CORNER! Tagging turnbuckles again, two, Cody blocks and Turner waves it off. Whipping Rhodes with the strap but he fires up, steel determination in his eyes, asking QT for more! Lariat, pump kick, right hands, big hip toss into an old-school flying headscissor!
Whipping Marshall with the strap, Cody Cutter connects! QT spits in his face... CROSS RHODES! A SECOND TIME! A THIRD! Rhodes slapping the turnbuckles with authority...
Cody Rhodes wins.
Commentary hypes up the rest of tonight’s show.
Shawn Spears cuts a promo backstage earlier today. Everybody’s asking why but Sammy’s ego is his great weakness.
A chair wings him in the face and Sammy Guevara rolls up to tell him this is far, far from over.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, Tony Schiavone is in the ring to interview Kenny Omega.
Don Callis tells Tony to scram and gives us all a history lesson about what he and Kenny Omega have achieved over the last few months. He recounts all the various wrestlers Kenny has defeated. The problem is, he says, that Omega has beaten everyone, and there’s no one left for him to beat.
Enter Evil Uno and the Dark Order.
Uno says it’s incredibly hot here in Miami and he’s been listening to Kenny and his weird uncle talk and now he has some questions. Omega interrupts with a question for him, saying Evil is a smarter person than wrestler, and what is the capital of Thailand? Uno goes to answer and Kenny kicks him in the balls, because it’s Bangkok, baby!
A brawl breaks out, the Good Brothers get involved, and “Hangman” Adam Page makes the save with some cowboy shit! Back body drop sends Karl Anderson out of the ring and a Cactus Clothesline takes Doc Gallows out! On the apron, lining it up, staring Omega down but Kenny runs away before Page can visit justice upon him!
Jim Ross moderates a sit-down interview with “All Ego” Ethan Page and Darby Allin.
JR says he’s disgusted and uneasy because they both talk about ending each other’s career and he thinks that’s sad. Page says Allin deserves it, and Darby says the fact that he got in one year of wrestling to where Ethan got in 12 drives him mad. It’s not his fault that he dropped everything to make sure he’d make it somewhere, and All Ego was complacent, the big fish in the little pond.
Ethan says that’s all true, and Darby skipped the line, and if it weren’t for him, he’d probably still be doing those same shows and living in his car. He brought him in and up in pro wrestling. The checks he cashed? That’s what you get when you share the ring with someone with as much experience as he. Without him, he’d be nothing, and next week he’s going to take him out of the business.
Inner Circle (Jake Hager, Ortiz, & Santana) vs. the Pinnacle (Cash Wheeler, Dax Harwood, & Wardlow)
Santana and Harwood to start, down and dirty mat brawling, whip reversed, into a lariat, block one, straight suplex and the PNP man is going for the Three Amigos! The third amigo is a German suplex, tag to Ortiz, northern lights into the bridge for two. Wheeler in, hammering Ortiz, tag made and the Pinnacle are in heat segment territory with Wardlow throwing him around.
Ortiz cuts it off with a Liger Bomb, Santana kicks his face in, tag to Hager, Vader Bomb connects! Belly-to-belly suplex and a clothesline to the floor for the other FTR, fired up, and we go to break!
Back from commercial, Santana tags Ortiz in, he lights Wheeler up, Cash comes back with a front kick, whip to the corner, up and over, roll away, Hager in for the charge and the Inner Circle run roughshod over him, Jake closing with the high-angle twisting spinebuster and Wardlow breaking the pin up! Tag to Harwood, powerbomb roll through, Dragon suplex, jackknife pin... NO!
Ortiz lands a sheerdrop brainbuster, tag to Hager, running wild, Vader bomb, boots are up, Jake catches it, ankle lock applied but Dax breaks it up! Whip reversed, a big boot takes Harwood out! Wardlow tags in, big boys hossing it up on each other with hamhock punches! Ankle lock applied, Dax runs in, blocked, but FTR hit Big Rig, Tully Blanchard with the distraction...
The Pinnacle win by pinfall with a lateral press from Wardlow on Jake Hager.
Post-match, Konnan attacks Wardlow with the madball! Tully chop blocks him and the Pinnacle retreat in victory while Proud-N-Powerful check on their mentor.
We get a video package hyping Jon Moxley’s defense of the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship against Karl Anderson next week.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman makes his entrance to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Chris Jericho makes his entrance.
MJF yells at the crowd before taking his seat for the face-to-face.
He tells Jericho he’s already beaten him twice and he’s here groveling and begging for another match, it’s freakin’ sad. But he doesn’t blame him, because everybody wants a piece of the king of All Elite Wrestling. Chris says he should have let that fat bastard that tried to jump the barricade in the ring to beat his ass but he’s Chris Jericho and he’ll accept any stipulation, up to and including sex with MJF’s mom...
...again!
Max says he doesn’t care what the fans want and it’s a shame we got to this point because he used to look up to Jericho. One of his favorite parts of Y2J’s career was his rivalry against Jon Moxley, and do you remember what he put Mox through to get the match? He made him wrestle every member of the Inner Circle and karma sucks, so he’s taking that blueprint and making it better.
See, he loves Greek mythology, and his favorite story is the labors of Hercules, and Chris is going to have five labors. Four of them will be stipulation matches against opponents of MJF’s choice, and the fifth one will be the match against Friedman where he’ll finally get it through his thick skull that Max is better than him.
Jericho says if he can’t get through these labors, maybe he doesn’t deserve to be in AEW, and he’ll accept them because he’s the god of war and thunder and he’s going to beat him and ruin his life. Y2J signs the paperwork and throws it at MJF, who cuts him off before he leaves. He comes from Long Island, where a deal is not done until both parties shake hands.
Max extends his hand and demands he shake or the deal is off. Jericho shakes his hand but doesn’t let go... SHORT-ARM JUDAS EFFECT LAYS FRIEDMAN OUT!
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, we see American Top Team hanging out in the front row.
A recap of the women’s tag from last week follows.
We get footage of Tony Schiavone interviewing Dr. Britt Baker, DMD earlier today.
Baker complains about being booked in the tag match in the first place and points out poor Rebel got hurt and Tony Khan should feel terrible about it. She almost got killed getting powerbombed through a table but hey, Tony got Andrade el Idolo, so that’s worth it, right? Maybe next week they can run in Saudi Arabia, she says..
She tells Nyla Rose that she’s not winning the title back, and she’s going to get sent back to obscurity. They call Dallas the Big D, but when she wins, it’ll be called the Big DMD.
Andrade el Idolo vs. Matt Sydal
Andrade with a wristlock to start, Sydal reverses to a hammerlock, el Idolo reverses and snaps him down with a twisting brainbuster! Up top, Matt from behind, jockeying for position, moonsault, land on his feet, standing moonsault, only a two count! Sydal with a back heel trip, standing moonsault of his own, whip reversed, back body drop, sunset flip attempt denied, roll through.
Leg kicks, Matt trying to carve an advantage out, rolling solebutt connects! Sydal up top, Andrade shoves him to the floor and we go to break!
Back from commercial, trading strikes, Sydal lands a leg lariat and gets fired up! More kicks, Oklahoma Roll, only two! Off the ropes, Andrade with a wicked lariat, headed up top, tripping Matt up, Tree of Woe... DOUBLE STOMP BUT NOBODY’S HOME! Sydal perches... DIVING METEORA CAN’T KEEP EL IDOLO DOWN! Arm drag into the turnbuckles, Andrade lands the corner knees, hammerlock...
Andrade el Idolo wins by pinfall with a hammerlock reverse STO that commentary informs us is called El Idolo.
Post-match, el Idolo traps Sydal’s arm with a belt and applies a double-arm cross armbar!
We get a video package where Christian Cage and Matt Hardy talk about their issues.
Arn Anderson starts cutting a promo while Tony Schiavone interviews him and the lights go down.
They come back up... AND TOMMY END IS IN THE RING! A BLACK MASS LAYS ARN ANDERSON OUT! Cody rushes to his mentor’s defense... AND END LAYS HIM OUT WITH BLACK MASS AS WELL!
Commentary informs us that he is now called Malachi Black, which is dumb. Sigh.
Anyway.
Commercial.
Back from commercial, commentary break down Tommy End’s debut and recap it for us.
We get footage of Ricky Starks commandeering the ring for a promo earlier today.
He says he has security with him because he’s not medically cleared yet and he can’t trust Brian Cage to not put hands on him, and a little Team Taz drama plays out.
Orange Cassidy & Kris Statlander vs. Pepper “Blade” Parks & the Bunny
Cassidy and Parks to start, roll-through, no-hands dropkick, kip-up, picking Pepper up for the Beach Break but he counters. Satellite DDT blocked, powerslam, suplex lift, Stundog Millionaire counters! Tags made, Statlander and the Bunny come in hot and trading punches! Bunny off the ropes with a knee lift, off the ropes again, Kris hits a powerslam!
Into the corner, chops, up for the delayed vertical suplex and down! Statlander goes for a standing senton atomico, no water in the pool, off the ropes, Blade runs interference and Bunny gets a cheap shot to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Statlander with a Michinoku Driver... NO GOOD! Men fighting on the floor, Bunny with a German suplex out of the corner, tag to Pepper and Orange is nowhere to be seen! Parks goes to swing on Kris, she ducks, Cassidy in with a crossbody, satellite DDT connects... STILL NO! Orange up top, Bunny knocks him down, Kris smashes her face into the turnbuckles and then perches... 450 SPLASH ON PEPPER!
Orange makes the cover... BUNNY PULLS HIM OUT OF THE RING! Pepper with brass knucks, a punch lays Cassidy out, he stows the knucks, cover... but Statlander made the tag, the women are legal! Kris from behind, scooping her up...
Kris Statlander & Orange Cassidy win by pinfall with Big Bang Theory from Statlander on the Bunny.
We get footage of “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry getting photographed with a trophy he was given for being the first to fifty wins in AEW.
Tony Schiavone interviews American Top Team, but Dan Lambert grabs the mic away from him and introduces Jorge Masvidal and Amanda Nunes before saying he was skeptical of even coming here in the first place. Not because he’s got better things to do, although he does, but it was more simple than that— AEW sucks.
He thanked Tony Khan for his offer and says if he wanted to enjoy a night of pro wrestling, he’d watch Gordon Solie call Eddie Graham and Johnny Valentine for Championship Wrestling from Florida in the 70s and 80s, because the sad truth is wrestling has gone nowhere but downhill since the late-90s and this product is unwatchable.
He recounts Tony’s pitch that AEW are “doing it right,” but the lesson he learned is to always trust your instincts.
Lance Archer comes to the ring, knocks Lambert out, and hits Blackout on him!
Commentary hypes next week’s show up.
Penta el Zero M and Eddie Kingston make their entrances to send us to break.
Eddie Kingston & Penta el Zero M vs. Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson) (AEW World Tag Team Championship Street Fight)
Kingston and Penta beating Nick down before the streamers clear, taking him to the floor where Matt makes the save with a dropkick. Michael Nakazawa tries to hold them in place for a Superkick Party but they dodge and Nak eats feet! Back in the ring, they put the Bucks into chairs, dropkick roundhouse combo lay them out!
Penta with a missile dropkick to the chair, putting it into Nick’s groin! Challengers in control, going under the ring for plunder, tables ahoy, Nick powerbombs Eddie into a flat table in the ring and Pentagon hits a flip piledriver that takes Matt off the apron and to the floor through a table! Penta’s got a trash can, Nick kicks it into his face from the apron and we go to break!
Back from commercial, Nick with a senton atomico into a trash can... KINGSTON KICKS OUT! Penta in, roll-through superkick, Sling Blades for both Bucks, whip reversed, up and over, kick to the midsection, roll-through, Matt hits the northern lights suplex! Duck the Backfist to the Future, cannonball / enzuigiri combo in the corner!
More Bang For Your Buck blocked, half nelson suplex from Eddie, Penta steps up off of him, tornado DDT! Bodyscissors sleeper, the hooks are in, Nick perching up top... 450 SPLASH TO REFEREE RICK KNOX! MATT TAPS BUT NOBODY CAN CALL IT! Good Brothers come down to interfere, beating Eddie Kingston down, Penta off the ropes... TOPE CON GIRO!
Pentagon calling for it, Matt slips out, spear to Eddie, holding Penta in place, Brandon Cutler with the spray, jockeying for position, Frankie Kazarian grabs Cutler... RUNNING POWERBOMB THROUGH A TABLE ON THE FLOOR! Underhooks, Fear Factor, Backfist to the Future... IT’S A THREE COUNT BUT NO REF! PAUL TURNER COMES TO THE RING AND COUNTS BUT NICK JACKSON PULLS HIM OUT OF THE RING!
Kazarian lays Jackson out with a lariat and throws him in the ring! Kingston grabs a back while the Good Brothers hit the Magic Killer on Frankie! EDDIE DUMPS TACKS OUT IN THE RING! MATT THROWS A HANDFUL OF TACKS IN HIS FACE! Penta smashes him with a trash can, fired up, charging in, back body drop to the apron, enzuigiri cuts Nick off!
Jockeying for position... NICK JACKSON AVALANCHE FRANKENSTEINER INTO THE TACKS BUT KINGSTON BREAKS IT UP! WAR KING! Eddie laying chops in, he runs into a Superkick Party, staggered, handful of tacks into Penta’s face, thumbtack superkick...
Young Bucks win by pinfall with a thumbtack-assisted superkick from Matt Jackson on Eddie Kingston to retain the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
That’s the show, folks.
