A Black attack & Miro’s latest lethal line set the stage for AEW Homecoming

AEW’s Twitter

AEW’s run of big, subtitled Dynamites continues next Wednesday (Aug. 4) with Homecoming. As the name indicates, they’ll be back in a familiar spot - Jacksonville’s Daily’s Place. They have some big things lined up for their home field.

Malakai Black’s in-ring debit against Cody Rhodes, and Miro’s TNT title defense against Lee Johnson were already in place prior to this week’s Fight for the Fallen episode. But on the July 28 show from Charlotte, they turned up the heat on both, in different ways.

Attacks have been the name of the game in Cody’s latest program, and that continued tonight when Black ambushed him during a backstage interview. The melee continued out into the arena, where both Rhodes and fan favorite Dark regular Fuego Del Sol laid out on the ramp.

Miro used his mic skills to sell his match. Personally, I popped for “I’m a simple man, only two things motivate me in my life - a vengeful god and a double-jointed wife.”

In addition to those two matches, AEW also has the following lined up for Homecoming:

- Chris Jericho faces Juventud Guerrero in his Third of Five Labors he must win to earn a shot at MJF. In this one, Jericho has to beat the lucha legend with a move from the top rope.

- The Bunny will face Leyla Hirsch, with the winner getting an NWA Women’s title match against current champ Kamille.

- Christian Cage battles The Blade in a match set-up by a post-match attack by the Hardy Family Office member on Cage after he, Jungle Boy & Luchasaurus defeated Blade’s teammates Angelico & Private Party.

Sound like a nice welcome home party to you?
