AEW Women’s champion Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. went to watch former UFC “It Girl” Paige VanZant lose her second fight for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship last night (July 23) in Florida.
In sharing that, she not-so-subtly told the world she suffered a broken wrist during her victory over Nyla Rose on Dynamite last Wednesday (Wrestling Observer says it happened on a Death Valley Driver spot). Baker made it clear she doesn’t plan to miss any time with the injury, though.
With @paigevanzant …And oh yeah, I retained the title on Wednesday night at #aewdynamite with a broken wrist. Not taking any time off either. #AndStill pic.twitter.com/YQVC37Woie

That’s a big cast, so I’m guessing not taking time off doesn’t mean wrestling next week. But AEW doesn’t book their Women’s champ to work every Wednesday anyway, and the good Doctor has gotten over with her mic work anyway. She can do her weekly interviews with Tony Schiavone while the bone in her wrist mends.
AEW would love to be able to promote a Baker match for their two shows in her native Pittsburgh next month (Dynamite on Aug. 11 and the premiere of Rampage on Aug. 13). That could be tough, but we’ll see.
Get well soon, Doc.
