The D.M.D. Era starts with a submission victory

It wasn’t the main event of the July 21 Dynamite in Garland, Texas, but AEW still sold Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.’s first Women’s title defense against Nyla Rose as “one of the most anticipated title matches in recent history.”

The announcers leaned heavily on their history, both recent instances like Rose putting Baker through a table two weeks ago, and historic ones like the Native Beast’s singles win over Britt last year.

It was put together as an epic clash, too. Big shots were traded, setting up lots of near falls & false finishes.

There was cheating (or attempts at cheating), and involvement from Nyla’s manager Vickie Guerrero and Baker’s second Rebel.

It was a bit sloppy, but the pro-Baker crowd didn’t seem to care. In the end, the good Doctor kicked out of a Beast Bomb and countered a second into her Lockjaw finish to pick up a submission win over the former champion.

The D.M.D. Era rolls on.
