The Varsity Blondes, Brian Pillman, Jr. & Griff Garrison, have been fixtures for AEW throughout the pandemic.
Since debuting a year ago, much of their work for Tony Khan’s company has been on the YouTube Dark shows. But they’ve made regular television appearances as well, and in 2021 had a Tag title match against The Young Bucks on Dynamite back in May, then Pillman, Jr. challenged Miro for the TNT championship just a few weeks ago.
You’d be forgiven for thinking AEW had already officially signed them to more than just a short-term or per appearance deal at some point. But apparently not, as yesterday (July 12) was the first time we’d seen this...
The only thing more official than that in this business is pic of Triple H pointing at you.
It doesn’t look like the third member of the team, Julia Hart, is locked down yet, but Flying Bryan was already lobbying for that to happen on Twitter, so hopefully it won’t be long.
Both guys expressed their gratitude on social media as well. There were lots of (mostly positive, but some kayfabe) reactions from the rest of the roster, too. This has got to be the best one, though...
whaaaat I thought they were signed the whole time I wouldn’t have let them get any offense in if I knew they weren’t https://t.co/6EiU7rS4dJ— TRENT? (@trentylocks) July 13, 2021
Congrats to 2⁄3 of Varsity Blondes! What do you think is next for Garrison & Pillman, Jr. now?
