AEW ratings soar with return to regular Wednesday time slot

The television schedule for WWE AEW Dynamite was thrown into disarray over the last five weeks thanks to the NBA playoffs. Not surprisingly, AEW’s ratings and viewership significantly dropped on Friday and Saturday nights compared to their typical Wednesday night performance.

Dynamite returned to its normal Wednesday time slot for last night’s (June 30) episode, and that’s all it took for their numbers to surge.

Per WrestleNomics’ Brandon Thurston, Dynamite brought in an hourly average of 883,000 viewers, with a 0.35 rating in the key 18 to 49 year old demographic. They were up against competition from the NBA playoffs, which provides optimism that AEW can quickly reach the one million viewer mark once the NBA Finals are out of the way. I guess it’s not all doom and gloom for pro wrestling just because the NBA playoffs are on television.
