The build to Hangman vs. Omega 2 was the highlight of Dynamite this week

That, and other select bits from another quality two hours of wrestling from All Elite on June 30.

TNT

Yes, the main event match between MJF & Sammy Guevara was awesome. But while it’s highs were higher, it also had a few lows (at least for me). When it came to the segments the June 30 Dynamite used to set-up Hangman Page’s next chance to take the AEW World championship, this time by beating his old partner Kenny Omega?

Those were pretty flawless.

First, while Omega was trying to declare he’d be taking time off (from this company at least, he does have other belts to defend) after beating all the worthy challengers, Evil Uno of the Dark Order cut him off.

Uno didn’t want a match for himself or any of his mates, though. While he didn’t name his cowboy compatriot, it was clear he was talking about Page. And Kenny knew it, referencing Hangman’s reluctance to shoot for the top again after failing to beat Omega for a title shot back at Full Gear last year - or Chris Jericho for the belt way back at All Out 2019.

Page was not happy to hear about any of this, but Dark Order called out his objection for what it is... fear of failure.

I did not have the guys Chuck Taylor called “spooky perverts” turning into motivational coaches for one of the most relatable guys on the roster on my list of predictions for AEW back when the company launched.

Great as they are, PWG-style main events aren’t my favorite thing about All Elite. It’s their ability to pivot, and to do so within long storylines where the characters are clearly defined, the details matter, and hey - we might even be reminded of an important lesson for surviving as a human being in a challenging world - that I love the most.

YouTube videos are being doled out slowly, as is AEW’s model these days. But we’ve compiled what they’ve released as of this morning in this playlist, and tried to catch you up with the rest of the episode via Twitter clips below that.
