AEW Rewind: Dustin Rhodes’ emotional celebration, Young Bucks beat up Fenix, more!

Don’t have time to follow all of AEW’s online content? Don’t worry. We got you covered with the AEW Rewind, which will rewind through social media bits and YouTube videos from the past week to prepare you for Dynamite.

Reminder, Dynamite airs Friday night this week at 10 pm ET on TNT.

After Dustin Rhodes vanquished Nick Comoroto in a bullrope match, Dustin thanked the crowd. AEW allowed him to find his passion all over again. It also allowed Dustin to get closer to Cody than he ever thought imaginable. He was touched that the fans still care about him. As long as Dustin is able to wrestle, he will continue to do it for the fans. Dustin broke into tears when serenaded with ‘Thank you’ chants. Rhodes committed to working his ass off 110% every time he is in the ring.

Cody Rhodes shared some light on his upcoming announcement on Dynamite.

What do you predict will be Cody’s next contest? I’m kind of hoping for a classic Survivor Series match between the Nightmare Family and the Factory.

Evil Uno is next on Miro’s kill list. The Dark Order masked man was gifted a TNT title shot, and Miro has one small request.

Sad news to report. AEW has requested that Max Caster cease scissoring his fingers with Anthony Bowens.

Lance Archer was the latest guest on Outside the Ring with Lexy Nair (here). Aside from the sound of crying victims as Archer steps into the ring, his favorite noise is a baby’s laugh. The Murderhawk Monster’s top karaoke song is Def Leppard’s, “Pour Some Sugar On Me.” If AEW ever produces a Slammy musical, that is one performance we need to see. Archer also shared some tales from his time in Japan.

Being the Elite

“Extremely Violent People” - Being The Elite, Ep. 259 (here) featured:

  • The Young Bucks were feeling sore after their tag title win over Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston. They convinced Brandon Cutler to assist with an evil act just in case they are in trouble against PAC & Pentagon on Dynamite. Cutler was reluctant to become physically involved, so the Bucks used the leverage of job security to hold over his head. Cutler acquiesced to cheating. Footage rolled from Dynamite showing Cutler clobber PAC’s knee for the Bucks’ win.
  • Chuck Taylor was the contestant for Ryan Nemeth’s Hollywood Trivia. In Netflix’s Bash Brothers special, who played the hunky reporter? Taylor did not know the answer, which was Nemeth.
  • Nick Jackson and Kenny Omega opened The Cube game to promote the show on TBS. Marko Stunt and Luchasaurus competed in a #1 contender match for the BTE Championship. Stunt put his balls in the box faster to win.
  • The Wingmen were smouldering against the wall as fashionistas. John Silver joined them in his short shorts. Peter Avalon asked, “What are you doing?” John Silver replied, “I’m living.” The Wingmen were cool with it.
  • HFO was frustrated about losing on Dynamite. Matt Hardy was disappointed that he wasn’t getting his winning payday as manager. His mood changed to celebrate the Twist of Fate on Christian. Hardy is going to run Christian out of AEW.
  • Alex Reynolds and Silver were back on the recruiting trail. Billy Gunn was the target. Gunn was enticed by the offer and requested time to think about it. If things don’t work out with the Nightmare Family, then he’ll drop by the Dark Order lair.
  • Vickie Guerrero, Nyla Rose, and Ryzin participated in a photo shoot. It did not go well. Nyla beat up Dillon McQueen to steal his money.
  • Trick shots with Nick. Everyone missed The Cube shot except Nick.
  • Dark Order and Hangman Page prepared Evil Uno for his TNT title shot against Miro. Uno practiced various escapes from the Game Over camel clutch. Colt Cabana did a magic trick sticking a marker up his nose. They all piled on to stretch Uno. That’s when Billy walked in. The compromising position freaked him out and he split. Billy will not be joining the Dark Order.
  • Fenix walked in front of the camera during a Bucks’ BTE promo. The Bucks made an example out of the luchador with a superkick party to prove themselves as EVPs, extremely violent people. They proceeded to land 4 BTE Triggers.

BTE showed a creative way to get Cutler involved in cheating while maintaining the consistency of his character. Add in the beatdown of Fenix, and the Bucks continue to establish themselves as rapscallions.

The Wingmen’s reaction to John Silver was my favorite moment of the show. We need a fashion showdown between the Wingmen and the Dark Order.

We’ll close with photoshop fun from FTR. They gussied up the advertisement for the live Dynamite in Charlotte, NC on July 28.
