Oh good. Another Cody announcement.

New, 118 comments

The last time AEW promoted a Cody Rhodes announcement for Dynamite, we got a promo Rhodes claims some people told him was ”the absolute best in modern history.”

We don’t know who those people were, only that they were definitely not part of a formal focus group (they might have been part of his backstage group he shares notes with, though).

We do know some of who those people weren’t. They include this writer and many others who found Cody’s May 12 return of the American Dream promo unfocused and tone deaf, only some of whom have Sasha Banks and Roman Reigns avatars on Twitter.

That’s all to say that this tweet from AEW about Dynamite this Friday (June 11) made me cringe a little:

Rhodes may have vanquished the British menace Anthony Ogogo at Double or Nothing, but his feud with QT Marshall is ongoing. Will this promo address that? Or weigh in on U.S. immigration policy, with a sidebar on how unfair it is to judge people based on their neck tattoos? Is he going to wrestle as “The American Nocturnal Emission” at All Out?

We’ll find out on Friday, when Cody announces something on a show that will also feature:

- Miro defending the TNT title against Evil Uno
- The Young Bucks & Brandon Cutler vs. PAC, Penta El Zero M, & Eddie Kingston
- Don Callis exposing a conspiracy against Kenny Omega
- Hangman Page & 10 vs. Brian Cage & Powerhouse Hobbs
- Darby Allin & Sting answer Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky’s challenge for Allin to face them without Sting
- The Pinnacle responds to Inner Circle declaring a Summer of Violence
- Christian Cage vs. Angelico
- Lance Archer in action

Sound like a winning line-up? What do you think Cody will say this time?
