We knew June was going to involve a lot of schedule changes for AEW, as TNT’s coverage of the NBA playoffs bumped Dynamite out of its usual Wednesday night spot for most of the month.
It does look like it will involve every episode of the company’s flagship show, but at least now we’re getting a clear picture of when we’ll have to tune in if we want to catch Dynamite as it airs.
For sure, the final episode of the month will run on Saturday. On Busted Open today, Tony Khan announced that, along with the news that the World title match between Jungle Boy and champion Kenny Omega originally announced for next week’s show, will happen on June 26.
Jungle Boy earned the shot by winning Double or Nothing’s Casino Battle Royal last Sunday night.
TNT’s schedule shows Dynamite as airing on the next two Fridays, tonight (June 4) and June 11 at 10 p.m. ET. AEW isn’t listed for the following week yet, but the NBA playoffs are booked for Weds., June 16. Wrestling Observer says that week’s show will air on Saturday (June 19).
No mention of when the Saturday broadcasts will start.
The numbers for last week’s Dynamite - the start of five weeks out of their regular timeslot - were down, but they weren’t bad at all for 10 p.m. on the Friday at the start of a three-day weekend. And this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports the episode had more viewers via DVR and VOD then it did live.
For the June 26 show, Khan has big plans. He pointed out the last Saturday night show featured Brodie Lee destroying Cody Rhodes to win the TNT title, and also indicated the “Supercard” shows announced along with the move to TBS will take place on Saturdays.
Does any and/or all of that get you excited for more Friday and Saturday night Dynamite?
