Commentary hypes up the rest of our show.
Christian Cage is backstage telling Jungle Boy how proud everyone is of him and that he can take something from this loss and be better than ever, and some day he’s gonna be world champ. But tonight, he can be the first AEW wrestler to make it to 50 wins, so tonight, go out there and make some history.
Luchasaurus rolls up with Marko Stunt and thanks Christian for having Jungle Boy’s back while he was out and dinosaurs are very loyal, so he’s got Cage’s back now. Christian admits to being a quarter cosmoceratops on his mother’s side and the two walk off chatting enthusiastically to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Tony Schiavone has “All Ego” Ethan Page (accompanied by Scorpio Sky) in the ring to interview him.
Page says he hasn’t been doing enough and his goal isn’t to beat Darby Allin, but to exterminate Darby Allin. Nobody has tried to cripple him more than he, and no matter where he throws him, what he does, where he does it, he keeps ticking, so the coffin match is meant to cripple Allin mentally.
He’s going to beat him in this coffin match, and when he does, every time he goes up for a coffin drop, he’s gonna think of Ethan laying him in the coffin and closing it shut on his confidence, forever.
Enter Sting, wheeling a coffin out on stage.
Darby’s in the coffin! Sting takes Scorpio out with a Scorpion Death Drop and Allin claws at Page’s eyes, his fingernails long and polished! All Ego says Darby knows he can’t beat him at 100%, so the match next week is off! And maybe if he behaves, he can have the match at Fyter Fest!
Jack Evans vs. “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry
Circling, collar and elbow, Evans with an arm wringer, reversed, headscissors takeover, headlock takeover, shot off, cartwheel around, Perry with another headlock takeover! Headscissors reversal into leg trips, stepover toehold but Evans gets the ropes! Whip reversed, drop down, leapfrog, drop down, Evans has the dropkick scouted!
Jumping kick, step-up arm drag into a dropkick from Jungle Boy! He dusts himself off and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Perry lighting him up, dropkick to the knee, falling lariat off the ropes! Catch a kick, dumping Evans up on the ramp, he heads up top, Jungle Boy climbs up to meet him and trades forearms, jockeying for position. Evans slips under, big Spider German suplex, Perry lands on his feet, dropkick!
Stepover toehold...
“Jungle Boy” Jack Perry wins by submission with Snare Trap.
Post-match, Christian Cage and the rest of Jurassic Express come down and end up brawling with the Hardy Family Office! Cage chokes Matt Hardy with his own jacket! Evans makes the save and Hardy gets away but Christian beats Jack down!
Maxwell Jacob Friedman cuts a promo.
He talks about how he’s dethroned Christopher Jericho as the king of AEW and you’d think you’d throw the towel in and quit when you’re bested but instead he’s turned AEW into his own perverted Looney Tunes. This is the best he can come up with? How low exactly is he willing to stoop?
We’re gonna find out next week when MJF reveals his stipulations for one last match against him, and all he requests is that if he makes it through his stipulations, which he won’t, is that once he beats him, he leaves him alone. Onto Sammy Guevara, fans want to see this match because they want to know what the future of AEW is.
And after their match, they’re gonna say Sammy is the future, because it’s going to be clear that Max is the now.
Jericho, on commentary, says he’s gonna accept any stipulation short of getting run over with a truck, and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Andrade el Idolo is interviewed backstage.
He says he had a great announcement but Matt Sydal, whose name he can’t remember, interrupted him and he wants to make an example of him in a match, in Miami at Road Rager.
Tony Schiavone is in the ring to interview Kenny Omega.
Omega says he stays motivated and gets up out of bed every day because, upon further reflection, he beat not only the toughest guy and the greatest high-flyer and the greatest most charismatic act, he also defeated the most promising up-and-coming star in AEW. So he’s gonna go around the world and beat some dudes, but his work here is far from over.
Enter Evil Uno and the Dark Order.
Uno asks if he just said he has no challengers. Kenny cofirms and Evil says he thinks differently. Omega scoffs at the idea of wrestling a guy like Alan Angels and tells them to turn around and walk back through that tunnel. Uno admits he’s right, and none of the Dark Order have the wins to justify a title match.
But there’s someone who does, someone who they’ve befriended and that Omega used to be friends with, the #1 ranked singles competitor in AEW. Kenny says if he’s talking about who he thinks he’s talking about, he wouldn’t appreciate Uno speaking on his behalf. And if he’s talking about that person, he doesn’t think he has the guts to face Kenny Omega.
If he’s talking about that person, that person doesn’t himself think he has the right to hold that title up and call himself champion. So unless he has something else to say, some trick up his sleeve, this is where he bids them an adieu and says goodbye and good night, bang.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, we see a Brian Pillman, Jr. promo from earlier today.
He talks about how growing up he had good friends and teammates who believed in him, and Griff Garrison is like a brother to him, so when Miro laid hands on him, he made this real personal, and it’s more than a title match, it’s Pillman proving that Miro is nothing but a big bully, a big Bulgarian bitch.
Brian Pillman, Jr. vs. Miro (c) (AEW TNT Championship)
Pillman taking it to Miro out the gates, chops on chops, but a loose Samoan drop stems the tide! Sit-down senton, chest kicks, big straight suplex! Fallaway slam sends Brian to the floor and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Miro lights him up with kicks, Pillman gets a triangle dropkick to knock him to the floor and follows it with a dropkick through the ropes! Back inside, springboard lariat... OUT AT ONE! Brian with a superkick, another one blocked and Miro nails him with a roundhouse kick!
Fired up, roaring, Miro rolls him over, stomp to the back, Game Over applied! Shifting gears when Pillman doesn’t break, falling back...
Miro wins by referee stoppage with a bodyscissors sleeper hold, retaining the AEW TNT Championship.
The Dark Order are backstage when “Hangman” Adam Page storms in.
He yells at them for making stupid challenges but Colt Cabana tells him he’s just afraid of failure and he needs to know he can do this. They give him a further pep talk and tell him they believe in him.
This note of unending positivity sends us to break.
Back from commercial, we get footage with Team Taz backstage.
Taz admits that things are in disarray with Ricky Starks and Brian Cage not here. It’s been toxic for Team Taz. Hook says he’s tired of this and Hobbs says someone needs to figure this out.
Taz says on July 14, Cage will defend the FTW Championship against a medically cleared Starks.
Dr. Britt Baker, DMD & Rebel vs. Nyla Rose & Vickie Guerrero
Rebel and Guerrero to start, Rebel shoves Vickie to the mat and Baker bowls her over! Vickie tags out, Nyla passes Rebel aside and goes after Britt but Rebel’s on her back! Slam to counter, Rose with stomps, big slam into a leg drop, tag to Vickie! Doing the Eddy shimmy, she goes up top and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Baker in control, counter the Beast Bomb, kicks to the leg, Nyla gets back up and chokeslams her! Hanging Britt over the ropes, Rose drops the knee across her neck and Rebel breaks it up! Guerrero in, Baker takes her down...
Dr. Britt Baker, DMD & Rebel win by submission with Lockjaw from Baker on Vickie Guerrero.
Post-match, Rose lays Britt out and hits her with the Beast Bomb! She hoists her up again... BEAST BOMB OVER THE ROPES AND TO THE FLOOR THROUGH A TABLE!
Commentary hypes up the next couple weeks worth of matches for us.
Jake Hager, Ortiz, and Santana cut a promo from a stairwell. They point out that every time they fight, the Pinnacle gets their ass whipped.
Hager points out that Wardlow took his loss well but then his buddies had to jump in and MJF laid Dean Malenko out? Santana says when they finally meet head-to-head, they better bring all the fight they can, and since Tully Blanchard is gonna be in FTR’s corner, best believe Konnan will be in theirs.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman makes his entrance to send us to break.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman vs. Sammy Guevara
Guevara charges in but Friedman bails to the floor! Back in, drop down, off the ropes, drop down, leapfrog, trading struts and fancy evasions, and finally MJF cuts the knot by throat thrusting him! Feast Your Eyes attempt denied, trading headlock takeovers and headscissors, trading pins.
Stalemate, Sammy hammering him with punches, chops in the corner, Guevara up top, springboard Ace Crusher! Hanging Max over the top rope, but he recovers and puts Sammy into the barricade and we go to break.
Back from commercial, MJF is in control and gets Guevara tripped up in the ringskirt to beat him down. Back body drop on the floor, springboard inside, Friedman with a counter powerbomb! Up top, Sammy with the Spanish Fly! Lariats, whip reversed, Sammy out of the corner, gamengiri! Corkscrew tope, action to the floor and back in!
Springboard flip piledriver, cover... MAXWELL JACOB FRIEDMAN WILL NOT STAY DOWN! Back elbow, double stomp to the arm off the second, MJF setting Salt of the Earth up but Guevara gets a legscissors pin! Dumping Max to the apron but Sammy gets hung up over the top rope! Friedman with the chair in hand, dropkick through the ropes puts the chair into his face and him into the crowd!
Guevara perching up top... SENTON ATOMICO OFF THE TOP AND INTO THE CROWD! Dragging Friedman back into the ring, Sammy goes up top but Max hits the rope and crotches him! Climbing up after him, hoisting him up... AVALANCHE TOMBSTONE PILEDRIVER! SAMMY KICKS OUT AND MJF COMES UP HOLDING HIS KNEE!
Friedman can’t get to his feet and demands that referee Bryce Remsburg ask him if he’s okay! Small package... NO! Both men still down, Guevara slowly getting up, Max crawls over and punches him down! Sammy rolls to the apron, MJF finally gets up to his feet, thinking Heatseeker but Guevara shoves him off and he lands on his knee!
Trading pins, Sammy with superkicks, backbreaker rack... FEAST YOUR EYES BUT MJF IS IN THE ROPES! Guevara goes up top, Max reaching out in desperation, begging him not to but Sammy comes off the top... 630 SENTON CAN’T PUT MJF DOWN! Chris Jericho leaves commentary and Wardlow attacks him from behind, putting him ribs-first into the barricade!
Shawn Spears is in wait with a chair, Wardlow throws Chris off the stage! Spears cracks Sammy over the head with the chair! Remsburg turns around as Max crawls over into the pin...
Maxwell Jacob Friedman wins by pinfall with a one-arm press.
The Pinnacle celebrate their victory.
Commentary tosses to a highlight reel of AEW’s time in Daily’s Place over the last year and change.
That’s the show, folks.
