Two title matches set for Double Or Nothing

As they are wont to do with their Women’s championship matches, AEW just went ahead and announced who Hikaru Shida will defend her title against at Double Or Nothing.

No complaints, though, because not only has it been set up on screen and in the rankings - it’s absolutely the right match to make.

As you can see from that clip for Dynamite tonight (May 5), the reveal of Kenny Omega’s challenger for the World title was a bit more dramatic.

Before the Blood & Guts main event started, Omega was out with Tony Schiavone to announce the plan for him on PPV. The Belt Collector will face the winner of an eliminator match between the first and second ranked wrestlers when Orange Cassidy faces PAC next week on Dynamite.

As Kenny was trying to fast forward to his latest match with PAC, Cassidy came out to lean on Schiavone’s shoulder.

The champ continued to run down OC, even taking his sunglasses and giving them to Michael Nakazawa.

This definitely looked to be telegraphing under-appreciated audience surrogate Orange giving Omega all he can handle, especially as an earlier segment foreshadowed Eddie Kingston & Jon Moxley challenging The Young Bucks for the Tag titles at DON. We’ll see.

Ready for Baker vs. Shida and PAC or Cassidy (probably Cassidy) vs. Omega in front of a packed house Daily’s Place in Jacksonville on May 30?
