How’s this for corporate synergy?
Since its inception, AEW has made good use of the fact its owner Shad Khan also owns the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars. They’ve made Jacksonville and the amphitheater next to the Jags home field of TIAA Field their pandemic-era home, and booked two Stadium Stampede matches that take place on around said field.
The second of those was tonight (May 30) at their annual Memorial Day weekend PPV event. And since the Jags have considerably more buzz around them in 2021 than they did in the first two years of AEW’s existence, that meant a much more overt tie-in to the team.
A tie-in like having Chris Jericho’s fight with MJP spill into the office of new head coach Urban Meyer. The high profile former leader of Florida and Ohio State’s gridiron program not only watched the rasslers tear up his space, he and assistant coach Charlie Strong helped by giving Jericho some weapons to use against his nemesis.

Pretty cool moment. And one that makes us think it’s only a matter of time before Tim Tebow shows up on Dynamite.
