AEW Rankings (May 19, 2021): Hangman Page is sent packing

AEW released their latest rankings (May 19, 2021) a day late. These rankings do not reflect the results from Wednesday night’s Dynamite. For posterity’s sake, let’s check out the movers and shakers.

Men:

AEW

With the TNT title changing hands from Darby Allin to Miro, Allin finds himself ranked #4. Brian Cage was pushed down a spot to #5. Hangman Page was booted from the fifth spot.

Next week’s men’s rankings are unlikely to change, since no matches of consequence took place within the top 5. Christian Cage is a someone to keep an eye on. He’s only 3-0, but his wins over Frankie Kazarian, Will Hobbs, and Matt Sydal are arguably a better resume than both #1 contenders in Orange Cassidy and PAC.

Women:

AEW

No changes in the women’s rankings. Red Velvet is likely to fall out next week after losing an NWA title match against Serena Deeb. Deeb is a candidate to take that spot with a 3-1 record. She beat Tesha Price, Tay Conti, and Velvet. Her lone loss is to Riho. Kris Statlander is another prime candidate at 5-0 with quality wins over Penelope Ford and Diamante.

Tag Team:

AEW

SCU was #1 last week. After their loss to the Young Bucks in a tag title match, they officially separated as a duo due to a personal stipulation. Thus, Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian disappeared from the rankings.

Varsity Blonds moved up one spot to become the new #1. Scorpio Sky & Ethan Page and the Acclaimed also moved up one spot accordingly to #2 and #3. Jon Moxley & Eddie Kingston moved in to debut in the rankings at #4. FTR stood pat at #5.

Next week will have a major shakeup. The Blonds lost to the Bucks in a championship contest, and the Acclaimed were defeated by Moxley & Kingston. The top spot should come down to Sky & Page or Mox & King. Sky & Page are 7-0 with quality wins over 5 & Alex Reynolds and the Sydal brothers. Moxley & Kingston are 5-0 with quality wins over the Good Brothers and the Acclaimed. Advantage to Mox & King in this comparison.

Do you agree with AEW’s rankings this week? If not, what would you change?
