The Young Bucks are already making fun of the rumored heat between AEW EVPs

There are rumors going around about some heat between the Executive Vice-Presidents (EVPs) of AEW. Those EVPs are Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, and Cody Rhodes.

The situation was characterized by PW Torch’s Wade Keller as “certain key people in the company, who aren’t even talking to each other anymore.” As a result of whatever these issues are between some of the EVPs, a potential “difference maker” was reluctant to sign with All Elite Wrestling. This rumor has significant ramifications if it turns out to be true, because it implies a certain level of dysfunction in the upper levels of AEW’s decision-making process.

Now that this story is out in the wider conversation among wrestling fans, there has been curiosity about how the Young Bucks would address it, if at all, on the next episode of Being the Elite. Well, we don’t have to wait until then to find out, because they’ve wasted no time in making fun of the situation by updating their Twitter bio:

“Currently not on speaking terms” is an obvious reference to the rumor.

For what it’s worth, F4WOnline’s Dave Meltzer has weighed in on this situation, essentially describing it as a non-issue:

“Nobody isn’t talking to each other. It’s impossible in wrestling to get everyone to agree on everything, especially when they are passionate about it. The Young Bucks & Omega are legit close personal friends. Cody is more of a business relationship with the other three but it’s not an adversarial one in the least and all have the same end goals which is to build a company that sustains and grows. They have different philosophies, but everyone in wrestling does based on when you grew up, where you grew up, and your life experiences. But Tony [Khan] runs the show and ultimately it’s the Tony philosophy. All want a diversified approach and you can argue whether that’s good or bad but that is what they all seem to agree on.”

Even if you aren’t convinced by Meltzer downplaying the situation, the bottom line is that the buck should indeed stop with Tony Khan. If it’s true that a potential difference maker is passing up on signing with AEW due to a conflict between the EVPs, then Khan needs to solve this problem sooner rather than later.

Then again, the Young Bucks’ bio update might lend credence to the idea that the EVPs are co-existing just fine, and that Meltzer’s understanding is the most accurate.
