On tonight’s (May 12) episode of Dynamite, Cody Rhodes promised to make an announcement related to AEW’s upcoming Double or Nothing pay-per-view card, scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 30.
The American Nightmare defeated QT Marshall in a singles match last week, but was laid out by Anthony Ogogo right afterwards. Ogogo draped the British flag over Cody’s fallen body.
That meant Cody was going to challenge Ogogo to a Flag match at Double or Nothing, right?
Nope! At least not yet, anyway.
Cody doesn’t need a flag match to express how he feels about the USA. Rhodes hit the patriotism theme hard in his promo while setting up a regular singles match with Ogogo for the pay-per-view.
I don’t even know what was going on in this promo. Cody talked about last year’s presidential election. He talked about what makes America great. He talked about his mixed race baby.
All of this rambling was capped off with Cody’s big moment, referring to himself as “The American Dream.”
