AEW Rankings (May 12, 2021): Luchasaurus is missing

AEW released their latest rankings (May 12, 2021). Let’s check out the movers and shakers.

Men:

AEW

No changes this week. #1 Orange Cassidy and #2 PAC will wrestle tonight on Dynamite with the winner earning a world title shot against Kenny Omega at the Double or Nothing PPV on May 30. #3 Jon Moxley will defend the IWGP United States Championship against Yuji Nagata tonight.

Darby Allin will be defending the TNT title against Miro tonight as well. After Allin was thrown down stairs, I think that makes Miro the strong favorite to win. Next week’s rankings should be interesting to see how far the #1 contender match loser falls and where Allin fits in if he loses. It could leave Hangman Page as the odd man out.

Women:

AEW

No changes for the women either. The women’s division seems to be at a standstill on the road to Double or Nothing. Last week had a squash by Dr. Britt Baker DMD on Dynamite, and this week’s TV show has a last-minute addition of Thunder Rosa in action. The championship bout between Hikaru Shida and Baker at the PPV is the only top 5 matchup in the coming weeks.

Tag Team:

AEW

SCU became #1 contenders by defeating Jurassic Express, Varsity Blonds, and The Acclaimed in a four-way last week. SCU will get their title shot against the Young Bucks tonight on Dynamite. Christopher Daniels and Frankie Kazarian have the personal stipulation that their next loss will be their last match as a duo. An SCU break-up would certainly shake up the rankings for next week.

Jurassic Express disappeared from the charts after that four-way loss. With such a sudden drop from #2, it leaves me wondering if Luchasaurus is injured. He did not accompany Jungle Boy and Mark Stunt this week on Elevation or Dark. I didn’t notice any painful moments in last week’s match. Maybe Luchasaurus’ skirmish with Sting a few weeks ago was more devastating than it appeared. Keep your eyes peeled for anyone wearing new dino skin boots tonight on Dynamite.

With Jurassic Express out of the picture, Varsity Blonds moved up one spot to #2. Scorpio Sky & Ethan Page are in the mix with their top 5 debut as a team at #3. The Acclaimed and FTR stand pat.

Do you agree with AEW’s rankings this week? If not, what would you change?
