Joe Biden breaks Dynamite’s million viewers streak

All Elite Wrestling

The ratings and viewership data are in for this week’s (April 28) episode of AEW Dynamite.

Per Showbuzz Daily, Dynamite netted 889,000 viewers for a 0.33 rating point in the 18-49 demographic.

That ends their two week run of seven figure overnight audiences, and is is an almost 20% decrease from the prior week. It’s also a more than 10% drop from last week’s 0.37 demo rating.

AEW was down to 10th place in the demo rating for the night, and that’s where the explanation for the decline comes from - seven of the nine shows that finished above Dynamite on last night were focused on President Biden’s address to Congress.

Is that the full explanation, or is the downward trend since the end of the Wednesday Night War cause for alarm?

Next week’s loaded Blood & Guts show seems like it should draw numbers similar to the April 21 episode, and won’t feature anything like the President’s speech as competition. Probably wait to see those numbers before you spend too much time drawing conclusions.

Here’s a breakdown of AEW viewership and rating in the 18-49 demo over the last year:
