If you haven’t been following New Japan social media, the next big AEW/NJPW crossover match might seem like it’s coming out of nowhere.
But after he successfully (and surprisingly) defended the IWGP United States championship against KENTA, the last New Japan star to step through the Forbidden Door and appear on Dynamite, Jon Moxley cut a promo where he challenged the legendary Yuji Nagata.

The former IWGP Heavyweight champ responded, and despite all of Mox’s talk of doing things the right way, Nagata-san didn’t like the way the “snot-nosed punk” called him out.

Now @nagata769 has a response!
It looks like this match may be on- but where and when?#njpw pic.twitter.com/f8uxZSQ9Nc
As the tweet says, the only questions were where and when. AEW answered those tonight (April 28) on Dynamite.

Mox is definitely getting to cross another huge name off his list of New Japan dream matches. Will he collect a scalp from the strong style veteran and keep his belt? Or will Nagata humble his punk ass?
We can’t wait to find out in two weeks.
