Early in the evening during the Revolution pay-per-view (PPV), Paul Wight was interviewed and asked to drop any hints on who the big new mystery signing to AEW would be. His teaser: no one will work harder than this guy.
When it came time, Justin Roberts led us into a countdown and at the conclusion of that countdown, the tron simply read “Out. Work. Everyone.”
And then the name appeared: Christian Cage.
He didn’t speak. Instead, he simply walked out, looked out into the crowd, grabbed the contract, and made it official. He is All Elite. Before taking off, he flashed his new shirt that again showed those three words, out work everyone, which will presumably be his catchphrase going forward.
This comes just over one month after he returned as a surprise entrant in the Royal Rumble for WWE. The belief at the time was he could have another run with that company, with Edge even teasing a tag team reunion at some point.
That’s obviously not going to happen.
We’ll surely learn more on why in the days and weeks to come. For now, the big signing lived up to the billing.
Excited?
