AEW Rankings (Mar. 3, 2021): Hangman Page rides into top 5

AEW released their latest rankings (Mar. 3, 2021). Let’s check out the movers and shakers.

Men:

AEW

Hold your horses. It appears that we have a cowboy in the mix. Hangman Page is riding high at #3 this week. He replaced Fenix, who lost to Lance Archer on Dynamite. The rest of the top 5 remains the same.

That’s quite the surprise to see Hangman shoot in so high based on wins over Ryan Nemeth and Isiah Kassidy. That’s not exactly a rough road to travel. Since AEW placed him at #3 so quickly, it leads me to assume he’ll be getting the main event title shot at the next PPV. Either Kenny Omega or Jon Moxley will drop depending on who loses in their EXPLODING BARBED WIRE DEATHMATCH at the Revolution PPV on March 7. That would put PAC next in line to challenge in a filler bout on TV. Then, the path would be clear for Hangman to mosey up to the championship bar. This all assumes that Page will prevail in his current feud with Matt Hardy, and I don’t see why he wouldn’t.

Women:

AEW

Nyla Rose is the new #1. She unseated Red Velvet after strong wins over Dr. Britt Baker DMD and Thunder Rosa in the women’s contender tournament. Ryo Mizunami powered in to #3 after running the table in the Japan bracket. Rose and Mizunami will collide tonight on Dynamite with the winner facing Hikaru Shida at Revolution.

Dr. Baker dropped from #2 to #4. Tay Conti is back in the rankings at #5. Thunder Rosa and Serena Deeb were both bounced out. That might be convenient with the news that the NWA is coming back this month. I wouldn’t be surprised if NWA books Rosa versus Deeb for the NWA women’s title on their upcoming PPV.

Tag Team:

AEW

SCU hopped over both FTR and Jurassic Express to #2. AEW is bungling SCU’s farewell story with that ranking. Since they are already so close to a title shot, there is little drama left to be built on Dynamite. SCU needs to knock off a couple of top 5 teams to build confidence in making us believe they have a genuine chance at winning gold.

Do you agree with AEW’s rankings this week? If not, what would you change?
