On Wednesday afternoon, Tony Khan teased a match that would be taped that night for next Monday’s Dark: Elevation... and that AEW would be debuting Orange Cassidy’s new entrance music when he came to the ring with Chuck Taylor to face Ryan Nemeth & JD Drake.
Sadly, TK said it wouldn’t be Cassidy’s song from the independents, Jefferson Starship’s “Jane”. But he promised it was “dope”, and the result of a “huge swing” that came through.
Because there were fans in attendance, word leaked Khan’s latest acquisition (he bought the rights to “Tarzan Boy” by Baltimora for Jungle Boy, and Tom Waits’ “Ol’ ‘55” so the Brodie Lee Tribute video would never need to be edited).
It’s another classic, for sure...

OC came out to Where is my mind? By The Pixies pic.twitter.com/eaAM5K1nit
The track from The Pixies’ 1988 debut album Surfer Rosa is near and dear to my Gen X heart... even if you aren’t a fan of Black Francis, Kim Deal, Joey Santiago & David Lovering’s surf punk stylings, you’ve heard it on television or in movies, like the iconic closing scene of Fight Club.
At first I wasn’t sure how this tune fit O.C.’s laid back sensibilities. But I’ve since heard the argument that it’s the way it starts slowly but hides an aggressive core that matches up with our boy Freshly Squeezed. That, and my love of the tune in general is enough for me.
What say you to Tony Khan’s marriage of Orange Cassidy & The Pixies?
