For months, it’s looked like NBA basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal was heading to AEW for a match against tiny-penised Cody Rhodes. Things recently picked up on that front when Shaq challenged Cody to pick a date in March for the match. A mixed tag match with Shaq and Jade Cargill vs. Cody and Red Velvet seemed inevitable for AEW’s Revolution pay-per-view (PPV) on Mar. 7.
Ah, but not so fast. On tonight’s (Feb. 3) Beach Break episode of Dynamite, AEW revealed that Shaq’s tag match is actually taking place on the Mar. 3 episode of Dynamite:
IT'S HAPPENING Next week on #AEWDynamite don't miss @SHAQ and @Jade_Cargill take on @CodyRhodes and @Thee_Red_Velvet pic.twitter.com/tq53xwRWrx— All Elite Wrestling on TNT (@AEWonTNT) February 4, 2021
There was a recent rumor that the date for AEW’s Revolution PPV might overlap with the NBA All-Star game, so perhaps Shaq has other plans on that night. Or maybe AEW just wants to pop a Wednesday night rating. Regardless of the reason behind this decision, it won’t be going down on PPV.
Are you excited to see what Shaq can do inside a wrestling ring, or will you be rolling your eyes all the way through?
