AEW is streaming all four first round matches from the Japan side of the bracket for their Women’s Championship Eliminator Tournament tonight (Mon., Feb. 15, 2021), in the YouTube video embedded above. The show starts at 7 pm ET.
These four matches were taped at Emi Sakura’s Ice Ribbon promotion and overseen by AEW Women’s champion Hikaru Shida. Whoever emerges from among these eight women will face the winner of the United States side of the bracket for a future shot at Shida and her belt.
U.S. matches are taking place in Jacksonville’s Daily’s Place and airing on Dynamite. Thunder Rosa defeated Leyla Hirsch in the tournament’s first bout last Wednesday, and Riho faces Serena Deeb on Feb. 17. You can check out the layout of the entire Eliminator Tournament here.
No word yet on when the remainder of the tourney will stream or broadcast. We also don’t know when the winner will challenge Shida. CORRECTION: It’s been mentioned on commentary the title match will take place at Revolution on Mar. 7, which seems logistically challenging and isn’t confirmed in writing anywhere online... but that’s what we have to go on.
We do know we saw these matches on the above stream tonight:
- Yuka Sakazaki def. Mei Suruga
- Emi Sakura def. Veny
- Ryo Mizunami def. Maki Itoh
- Aja Kong def, Rin Kadokura
Sakazaki vs. Sakura and Mizunami vs. Kong are the quarterfinal match-ups.
