Dante Martin is superhuman

For my money, the Oct. 29 Rampage was one of the best episodes in the show’s brief history.

We got our latest Bryan Danielson classic, with his World Title Eliminator Tournament semifinal win also serving to advance Eddie Kingston’s storyline toward a match with CM Punk (and hopefully a Kingston & Jon Moxley vs. Punk & Danielson match somewhere down the line). Abadon & Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D.’s No Disqualification main event was Halloween fun that put the Women’s World champ on television, gave us a chance to see how Abby’s developing in the ring.

And speaking of in-ring development, we also got the latest installment of Matt Sydal’s series with Dante Martin. The first of their three matches to date happened on Dark, and AEW’s YouTube shows are where Martin’s been featured the most often in his run with the company. That we’re starting to see more of him on television, and that his work there now seems more integrated into the story of a match - as opposed to being a string of spots - is a credit to AEW’s system, and probably the guidance of his frequent dance partner Sydal.

Those spots are still there, and holy schnikes are they impressive.

It’s still going to be a little too indielicious/luchatastic for some, but the guy is 20 years old. With more seasoning and assistance from the veteran hands on the AEW roster & staff, I’m confident he’ll continue to figure out how to incorporate the amazing things he can do into a more mainstream structure. Now that he’s aligned with Lio Rush as his manager (and possible future nemesis), I’d expect we’ll get to see him do a lot on TV training.

I know I won’t be able to take my eyes off while he does it.

Here’s all the highlights from Rampage:

  • Danielson or Kingston ~ Who Stamped Their Ticket to the Tournament Final?
  • Not Everybody is a Fan of CM Punk. What Sparked this Backstage Melee?
  • What Happened When Dr. Britt Baker & Abadon Show Off More Tricks than Treats?
