Who will be the first person to beat CM Punk in AEW?

New, comments

In the opening match of the Oct. 27 Dynamite, CM Punk defeated Bobby Fish to run his AEW record to 5 - 0. None of those wins have come easy, and this one saw Fish almost kick out of a GTS (he’s worked over Punk’s knee to such an extent the former WWE champion struggled to make the cover after hitting his finisher).

The story they’re telling over two-and-a-half months since Punk returned to pro wrestling at “The First Dance” is both of a man returning to form, and of an aging legend who’s lost a step. At some point, he’s going to run into someone who’s a little too fast, or a little too strong, or a little too smart for Punk to beat.

Who should that person be? How soon should it happen? Those are huge decisions for Tony Khan to make. It’s not something we’re likely to see happen for a while yet, but knowing how AEW likes to plot out big moments in advance, they likely have a few candidates lined up already.

Let us know who your candidates are. And while you’re thinking, here are some highlights from last night’s Dynamite. As is AEW’s model these days, YouTube videos are being doled out slowly. But we’ve compiled what they’ve released as of this morning in this playlist, and tried to catch you up with the rest of the episode via Twitter clips below that.

  • Did Sammy Guevara walk out of Boston the TNT Champion?
  • Shida vs Deeb: Who moved on to the next round of the TBS Tournament?
  • Did the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man finally get his Revenge?
