AEW continued its World Title Eliminator Tournament on this week’s special Saturday night episode of Dynamite from Orlando, Florida with two matches that certainly appeared to have rather obvious outcomes, as Bryan Danielson battled Dustin Rhodes while Lance Archer took on Eddie Kingston.
Well, that turned out to be half true.
Up first, Danielson used a guillotine to put Rhodes to sleep after the two had what amounted to a very good television match. Rhodes looked every bit like he belonged in there with Danielson, but it was always clear who was going to advance.
Later, Eddie Kingston got the fight with Lance Archer started early, attacking as Archer was making his entrance. Eventually they made it to the ring, the bell signaled the start of the match, and they had a physical brawl that ended with a Kingston using a schoolboy to win.
Surprise!
Danielson will take on Kingston in the semifinals of the tournament, with the winner advancing to Full Gear for the final, with the winner of that match earning a future world title match. On the other side of the bracket, Orange Cassidy awaits the winner of Jon Moxley vs. Dark Order’s 10.
