Danielson vs. Suzuki lived up to the hype

All Elite Wrestling

Wrestling fans had a lot of thoughts about Tony Khan booking Bryan Danielson vs. Minoru Suzuki for the YouTube pre-show of Fri., Oct. 15’s edition of AEW Rampage.

Was it giving away a big match without a proper build, in the name of getting people into Miami’s James L. Knight Center and/or hooking them at home before Rampage went head-to-head with WWE SmackDown on cable television for 30 minutes? Or was it proof that Roman Reigns is right and AEW’s audience is capped because casual fans don’t know who Suzuki is, and wouldn’t be interested in a technical strong style bout between the Japanese legend and the American Dragon?

I don’t know. Taz had thoughts on anyone watching FS1 instead of the Buy In’s main event:

“If you’re watching TV, and you’re not watching this on YouTube, you are a dumbass. Sorry! You’ve gotta be dumb as a box of rocks. This frickin’ thing is awesome.”

Not gonna call anyone a dumbass, but I can tell you is that I thought Danielson vs. Suzuki ruled. And the plus side of it being on YouTube is... anyone can watch it any time! If you like either man, or “master testing themself against another master” type stories, you should watch it now if you haven’t (and maybe even if you have). It’s at the 29 minute mark of the first video in the playlist below. If you’re on the fence about whether this is your kind of thing, I’d recommend checking out the **** measuring striking contest that starts ~36 minutes into the video, and culminates with this:

SPOILER ALERT: When Danielson gets up, he’s pissed.

Here’s more of that, and all the highlights from Rampage:

  • DANIELSON vs SUZUKI, FISH vs MORIARTY and CONTI vs GARRETT | Buy In
  • Was CM Punk Able to Keep Undefeated Streak Alive Against Matt Sydal?
  • Did Jorge Masvidal, Ethan Page & Scorpio Sky Silence The Inner Circle?
