When AEW announced next Wednesday’s Dynamite would feature a Casino Ladder Match for a future World title shot, three names popped into my mind. Now I’m not sure about any of them.
My pal Cain already rained on the “Hangman’s coming back!” parade... I’m gonna keep hope alive, but his case makes a lot of sense. Scorpio Sky reminded us about the concept during his promo on the Sept. 29 Dynamite, but then Men of the Year went and confronted new TNT champ Sammy Guevara during Rhodes To The Top. That scene does make more sense for both Sky & Ethan Page at this point in their All Elite careers.
So who does that leave us?
I’m honestly a little befuddled. The folks who make sense as Kenny Omega challengers in the short term like Bryan Danielson or Jon Moxley shouldn’t need to work a “Casino” match to earn a shot. But there are still plenty of guys a rung below them on the ladder (pun semi-intended) like Jungle Boy, Ricky Starks & Miro who could use a springboard.
Luckily, we don’t have to wait too much longer to find out. Tony Khan is gonna tell us tonight (Oct. 1).
On TONIGHT's #AEWRampage at 10/9c on TNT, #AEW GM @TonyKhan will announce the participants for the #CasinoLadderMatch scheduled for next Wednesday, Oct 6 at the #AEWDynamite 2 Year Anniversary Show LIVE from Philadelphia!
