AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JAN. 27

A tragedy’s appealing, disaster an addiction. Waiting for the good in everything, while the world keeps failing. There’s safety in this distance, there’s pain in entertainment, and I’m liveblogging this here pro wrestling show for y’all tonight with a little bit of a migraine so apologies in advance if I’m less detailed than usual.

The show opens with the intro video.

Eddie Kingston vs. Lance Archer

Kingston in with chops, Archer pushes him into the corner with a boot, running back elbows, Eddie sidesteps the third and starts kicking Lance’s leg out from under him. Biting his head in the ropes, clubbing blows, more chops, more leg kicks! An eye poke, Archer clips him with a wild swat in return but Kingston is able to keep the pressure up and rake his eyes against the ropes.

Punches to the ribs, Lance rakes the eyes to block but Eddie keeps chopping away. To the second, diving shoulder block, Archer takes to one knee but is able to get off the ropes and pounce Kingston to hell! Dragging the War King up by his ears, clubbing him down, chopping him in the ropes, leaving him clutching his chest in agony on the mat! CHOKESLAM OVER THE ROPES AND TO THE FLOOR!

Murderhawk Monster stalking after him on the floor, smashing Eddie’s face into the camera, choking him against the barricade and that last one gets him admonished by referee Bryce Remsburg. Back inside, full nelson slam, turning Vader Bomb, he won’t put Kingston away! Backfist to the Future blocked but a basement dropkick connects for two! Archer with a short-arm lariat, drawing Eddie up for a followup and putting him up on the turnbuckles.

Thinking about Blackout, Kingston slips out and rams him into the turnbuckles! Boot up, hammerlock, ripcord into a kneeling Rock Bottom! Knucklelock, clubbing blows, headed up top, walking the ropes, moonsault but still no cover! EBD Claw, slamming Kingston into the mat but Butcher and the Blade run the distraction, dragging Jake “the Snake” Roberts out onto the stage, clearly having beaten him down!

Bunny slips Eddie some knucks while Lance is distracted, Backfist to the Future... IT’S OVER!

Eddie Kingston wins by pinfall with a loaded Backfist to the Future.

Post-match, Butcher and the Blade drop Archer with a powerbomb / neckbreaker combination! They draw him up and Eddie hits another Backfist to the Future!

Commentary promises some comments from Shaq and a response from Cody Rhodes later tonight whilst hyping up the rest of tonight’s festivities.

We get a Jon Moxley promo where he tries to break down the current relationship amongst Kenny Omega and all his friends.

He says it’s like an episode of The Young and the Restless and it’s never gonna work. He’s a simple guy, he likes his beer cold, his coffee hot, his water at room temperature, and his sex in the morning. He likes to use his right hand and his left hand and not complicate things, but he’s excited for this trios match because gang warfare is fun.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, Sting and Darby Allin have sent a promo in.

Sting scoffs at Brian Cage and Ricky Starks calling them hoodlums, but actually, you know what, Darby *is* a hoodlum. Allin says it doesn’t matter if you play clean or dirty, it’s all about survival, and he smashs a window with his skateboard. Sting joins in, smashing windows with his baseball bat.

Inner Circle (Chris Jericho & Maxwell Jacob Friedman) vs. Varsity Blondes (Brian Pillman, Jr. & Griff Garrison)

Friedman gets on the mic and tells Sammy Guevara they gotta talk at the match before offering Garrison a chance to quit right away. He doesn’t take it and instead beats MJF down! Mounted punches, Max scrambles away to the safety of the floor! Griff gives chase, drops him with a big boot and Friedman goes to the floor to get a chair but the rest of the Inner Circle cool him down.

Tag to Jericho, Garrison with a drop toehold, arm wringer, tag to Pillman. Off the ropes, swinging neckbreaker into a leg drop, only two! Chops against the ropes, whip across, Chris hangs back to avoid the dropkick but ends up eating it on the rebound! Armbar applied, Y2J fights out with punches, whip across, Brian hits a lariat! Whip reversed, MJF with a cheap shot, Jericho drops him with a lariat and makes the tag as we go to break.

Back from commercial, Garrison is cleaning house on the heels, back body drop on Friedman, rolling elbow on Jericho, leaping lariat on Max, stack him up and a Stinger splash on both before a double spear... NOPE! Tag to Pillman, a tight nearfall on Y2J, out to the floor and back in, Judas Effect sets it up...

Inner Circle win by pinfall with a Lionsault from Chris Jericho on Brian Pillman, Jr.

PAC sends in a promo where he calls out Kenny Omega for acting like Billy Big Bollocks, manipulating people, cheating, and attacking from behind like a pack of dirty mongrels and tells him that next week he’ll face the consequences.

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, we get a replay of Shaquille O’Neal calling Cody Rhodes out during tonight’s AEW Awards and challenging him to a fight in March.

Tony Schiavone is in the ring and he introduces Cody to respond both to Shaq and to Jade Cargill.

Rhodes says he’d rather just give the pitch rather than answer individually. March 7th, Revolution, him and Brandi Rhodes vs. Jade Cargill and Shaq, that was the match. But Brandi’s pregnant, so that’s not happening. In moments when he’s confused and distracted, he defers to the Coach, to Arn Anderson, and if you’re wondering how much of a coach he is, he chewed his ass out before coming out here for taking Peter Avalon too lightly.

He cedes the floor to Arn, who says he’s gonna earn his money tonight and probably contradict himself a few times tonight. Cody’s about to be a dad, and that’s right on the front of his brain, but consider June 28th, 1985. On that night, he saw Dusty Rhodes fight Tully Blanchard 30 minutes before flying cross-country, arriving just in time to see Cody’s birth.

Arn continues, saying a Shaq match is once in a lifetime and can get a special viewing audience, and he’d like for him to see something while he makes his decision. Anderson calls Red Velvet down and she makes her entrance. She gets on the mic and says she’s fed-up and tired of getting attacked and seeing Brandi Rhodes disrespected by a big-mouth coward.

Everybody knows that Cody would never lay a hand on Jade, but she will, because she’s Red Velvet, and she’s about to stir your bitch ass up.

We get a video package hyping up Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford’s wedding, at Beach Break.

“Hangman” Adam Page vs. Ryan Nemeth

Nemeth in for a single leg, Page into the ropes for the break. Collar and elbow, Adam with a wristlock out of it, Ryan reverses to a hammerlock, side headlock, shot off, shoulder block, shoulder block, drop down, leapfrog! Chops in the corner, trading ‘em, Nemeth taunts and Hangman drops him with an elbow! Boots in the corner, action to the floor, Page with a plancha!

Back inside, Ryan hits a dropkick, no dice, big arm wringer, Matt Hardy comes to ringside as Nemeth does a headstand hammerlock! Hip swivel, Rude Awakening for two! Hard whip into the corner, Hangman with lariats, whip across, duck a lariat, caught with a spinebuster to plant him! Charging in, corner lariat, off the ropes, sliding lariat... SO CLOSE!

Front kick, big DDT, shades of big brother Dolph Ziggler but he can’t keep Hangman down! Back elbow in the corner, boot up, German suplex but Page lands on his feet and hammers him with a rolling elbow! Hangman ready to end it...

“Hangman” Adam Page wins by pinfall with Buck Shot.

Post-match, Page calls Matt Hardy into the ring and Tony Schiavone joins them to get to the bottom of this.

Hardy says he came ringside to let Adam know he supports him and he’s been concerned about him these past months. He knows how much love Hangman had for the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega, and they burned him, and he doesn’t deserve that. The Dark Order are on him to join and it’s awkward and he must be conflicted, but Matt wants him to know that he’s a good person and he deserves better.

Hardy offers him a chance to work with him and leaves to send us to break.

Dax Harwood vs. “Jungle Boy” Jack Perry

Tully Blanchard and Cash Wheeler are handcuffed to Luchasaurus, per the stipulation of the match.

Collar and elbow, Harwood backing him into the corner and breaking clean at referee Paul Turner’s behest. back to the lockup briefly, grappling, Dax hits a side headlock takeover and grinds him down. Shot off, shoulder block, drop down, slide under, Perry with a big dropkick, double leg into Snare Trap but Harwood gets the ropes! Taking a breather on the floor, Jungle Boy throws him back in and Dax turns him around, striking him into the corner.

Big chops, Jack throws his own right back, trading away with abandon! Off the ropes, leapfrog, Harwood puts him into the corner but Perry sidesteps the charge and he takes the turnbuckles hard! Arm wringer, elbows to the bicep, armbar takedown to work Dax over! Short whip into a hard back elbow, Jungle Boy sends him to the floor but Harwood cuts him off and throws him into the barricade!

And so we go to break.

Back from commercial, Harwood with a reverse chinlock but Perry fights out of it! Duck a lariat, put Jack into the corner, catch the boot, back elbow, Jungle Boy heads up top to capitalize but Dax cuts him right off! Climbing to join him, back superplex connects! Striking away, Perry gets in his face, trading vicious palm strikes, uppercut, kick blocked, elbow, Harwood going for a powerbomb but Jack floats out!

German suplex, Perry lands on his feet, superkick connects! Dax with a lariat, Jungle Boy victory roll pin, no dice, slingshot powerbomb... SO CLOSE! Full nelson applied, Jack breaks it, hits a lungblower, German suplex, he’s on a roll and rolling those Germans! Lariat, float over the suplex, duck the strikes, Harwood plants him with a DDT but Jungle Boy will not stay down!

Suplex lift sets Perry up top, jockeying for position, superplex, roll through, no good! Electric chair, victory roll countered, Jack rolls through, neither guy can tag it! Crucifix for an Oklahoma Roll, no good, Perry fights out of a followup, thinking backslide, Harwood breaks it, knee to the gut, O’Connor roll, kick out, schoolboy, transition into the Snare Trap!

Cash Wheeler and Tully Blanchard reach but Luchasaurus holds them back, Perry changes his grip to trap the arm with an over-the-shoulder chickenwing...

“Jungle Boy” Jack Perry wins by submission with a Regal Stretch.

Post-match, Tully throws a handful of powder into Luchasaurus’ eyes and Wheeler throws him hard into the ringpost! Blanchard holds Perry’s legs for the assist... SLINGSHOT SUPLEX! Pulling Luchasaurus up... THREE-MAN SPIKE PILEDRIVER WITH TULLY BLANCHARD OFF THE TOP! FTR handcuff Luchasaurus to the ropes, Tully gets out a pair of scissors and they snip the horns off his mask!

They go to cut Jungle Boy’s hair but Marko Stunt makes the save, chair in hand, and we go to break!

Back from commercial, Team Taz respond to the promo that Darby Allin and Sting sent in earlier.

They get distracted yelling at the merch stand for not having any Team Taz merch and they beat the guys manning it up before tearing all the Sting merch up. They lawn dart one of the poor dudes into the side of the truck and press drop another one before pledging to beat Sting’s and Darby’s asses.

Dr. Britt Baker, DMD vs. Shanna

Mat grappling to start, hold for hold, trading the advantage as we heat up into lucha and trade arm drags. Shanna with an enzuigiri, off the ropes for a dropkick but Rebel pulls Baker out of the way! Running the distraction, allowing Britt to clobber Portugal’s Perfect Athlete from behind and beat her down on the floor! Sling Blade on the floor, and we go to break.

Back from commercial, Shanna in the ring with some strikes, a lariat, only a nearfall! Underhooks applied, Baker slips out, gator roll into a rolling crucifix pin, only two! Kick follows, drawing Shanna up, rolling neckbreaker... NOPE! Looking for Lockjaw, Shanna reverses into a pin, hits a Stunner, rising to capitalize, off the ropes... HESITATION DROPKICK!

Britt reverses, Lockjaw in the middle of the ring, taking her time to lock it in...

Dr. Britt Baker, DMD wins by submission with Lockjaw.

Post-match, Baker hits a surfboard stomp on Shanna and puts Lockjaw back on! Thunder Rosa makes the save but the heels get the hell out of Dodge!

Maxwell Jacob Friedman is in a bathroom somewhere trying to explain things to Sammy Guevara.

He swears that he didn’t tell Wardlow to get involved and he never will again, but Sammy sees through his shit and knows exactly what he’s up to. MJF asks if he’s sure he wants to play it this way, Sammy says he’s not playing, and we’re done here.

Commentary hypes up next week’s card for Beach Break and we go to break.

Back from commercial, the Good Brothers and the Young Bucks are interviewed.

The Good Brothers say they’re gonna do their very favorite thing next week and beat up Jon Moxley, and the Bucks are on the same page as long as that snake Don Callis isn’t involved. Kenny Omega rolls up and slaps hands with the Good Brothers, asking the Bucks if he’s interrupting and saying they need to talk. Callis comes up and the group bickers as entrance music calls them away.

Dark Order (Alex Reynolds, Evil Uno, John Silver, & Stu Grayson) vs. Good Brothers (Doc Gallows & Karl Anderson) & Young Bucks (Matt & Nick Jackson)

Uno and Anderson to start, a bit of light mat grappling, headlock shot off into the shoulder block, catch the leapfrog into a Manhattan Drop for an early two count! Evil going to work on Karl’s hand, tag to Silver, tag to Gallows and the Meat Man goes toe-to-toe with the Big Hoot! Doc gets on one knee and John hammers him with forearms! Off the ropes, Anderson with a cheap shot, Silver knocks Nick Jackson down!

Gallows tags Matt in, right hands, off the ropes, blind tag from Reynolds! Slingshot sunset flip, back roll, duck a lariat, corkscrew uppercut, dropkick, kip-up, forearms into the ropes, blind tag from Nick. Bucks with double-teams, the match breaks down and Alex finds himself on the back foot as all four Biz Cliz men work him over. Good Brothers & Young Bucks win by pinfall with a Meltzer Driver from the Bucks on Stu Grayson.

Post-match, the Good Brothers throw the Too Sweet up.

The Bucks get on the mic and talk about the #1 contender’s battle royal for their tag titles next week, and say they’re in the match and if they win, they get to hand pick their opponents for Revolution. It could be anybody, Matt says before pointedly turning to face the Good Brothers and throwing the Too Sweets up.

Rey Fenix runs in, springboard dropkick takes the Bucks out but the Good Brothers beat him down! JON MOXLEY MAKES THE SAVE! FENIX WITH A TOPE CON GIRO TO WIPE THEM OUT BUT KENNY OMEGA’S HERE WITH THE POINTED BOOT! PARADIGM SHIFT TAKES HIM OUT!

That’s the show, folks.
