AEW DYNAMITE RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JAN. 13
Here in the land that Abraham was promised to receive we listen to you catechize from your pulpit overseas. You mourn the proofs of our barbarity, but me? I’m just here to liveblog this here pro wrestling show, folks.
The show opens with a promo from Eddie Kingston promising to bust PAC up so bad that he’ll go home and never come back.
Eddie Kingston vs. PAC
Hot start, action almost immediately to the floor, where PAC uses Kingston’s momentum against him. Back inside, pump kick into a choke in the ropes, he’s got Eddie staggered and he goes up top for a missile dropkick! Kip-up, a wicked knee trembler, another one, Kingston fires back at him and knocks him to the floor, where the Bunny rakes his face with her nails!
Rey Fenix tries to cut her off and Blade gets referee Bryce Remsburg’s attention while Butcher suplexes PAC! Back inside, hangman’s neckbreaker for one and Eddie follows it up with a kneeling neck crank! Chops to follow, the Bastard fires up and gets a German suplex off to try and regain the momentum! Chop into a enzuigiri, Saito suplex... PAC KICKS OUT!
Sidestep the charge, Kingston with a back elbow, a boot, PAC meets him with a gamengiri that leaves Eddie staggered on the top turnbuckles! The Bastard hits a superplex... NOT ENOUGH! Boots in the corner, just hammering Kingston, charging uppercut, off the ropes... EDDIE FIRES UP AND DROPS HIM WITH A LARIAT FOR A TIGHT TWO COUNT!
PAC hits a Sick Kick in return, positions Kingston, heads up top...
PAC wins by pinfall with Black Arrow.
Post-match, PAC locks the Brutalizer on briefly but Bryce pulls him off and Death Triangle squares up against Kingston’s family.
Lance Archer runs in to play equalizer and run the heels off! He jaws a PAC, telling him he better get on the same page before storming out.
Commentary hypes tonight’s card up for us.
Chuck Taylor makes his entrance, accompanied by Orange Cassidy, to send us to break.
Chuck Taylor vs. Miro
Taylor blasts Miro from behind with forearms, backing him into the corner, putting boots to him before sending him to the floor with a lariat! The Bulgarian back up on the apron, he clobbers him with a forearm and follows him to the floor, putting him into the barricade a few times! Tope con giro connects, he keeps attacking Miro on the floor and punctuates it with a diving double stomp off the apron!
Kip Sabian blasts Orange Cassidy at ringside, Taylor takes care of him with a kick, lands a knee on Miro, off the ropes... the Bulgarian Brute catches him with a Samoan Drop! Punch combinations in the corner, overhead belly-to-belly, Miro is on a roll! Corner body avalanche, Shinjiro Ohtani spinning wheel kick, calling for Game Over, Machka Kick connects!
Stomp to the back, Game Over is locked on in the middle of the ring... IT’S OVER!
Miro wins by submission with Game Over, forcing Chuck Taylor to be his young boy.
Post-match, the heels drag Chuck off while Orange Cassidy looks on.
Matt Hardy and Private Party are interviewed.
Matt insides on starting first and asks Private Party to talk about how he’s improved their career. Signing AEW was the first best moment of their life, but signing with the Matt Hardy Brand was even better. The facade breaks and they complain about signing 30% of their earnings over and Hardy says money’s nothing and they call him a money-grabbing carnie.
He doesn’t like that, saying that the fans don’t care about them, and he learned that the hard way at All Out. So shut up, listen to him, and do exactly what he says.
Chris Jericho makes his entrance, with the Inner Circle in tow.
The crowd sings along to Judas and we go to break.
Back from commercial, the Inner Circle are in the ring and Chris Jericho gets on the mic.
He talks about how it’s going to be a huge year for them and they’re going to share their New Year’s Resolutions with us.
Jake Hager starts, he wants championships. Maxwell Jacob Friedman says that was a great answer and he just wants to continute to strengthen their bonds, and also fat people have gotta go. Ortiz wants to perfect some of his grandmother’s recipes, nice. Jericho wants to win the tag titles with MJF, but Santana takes issue with that idea.
He says Chris hand-picked him and Ortiz to be THE tag team in the Inner Circle, so why’s he gunning for the tag titles? Sammy Guevara plays peacemaker and says he knows what’s going on here— Jericho is a little tag team slut! He’s teamed with MJF, with Hager, with Sammy as Le Sex Gods, what’s next, Snoop Dogg? Y2J says they’re all tremendous athletes and sexy and any one of them could team with any other to win the tag titles.
So much like Jake and Wardlow blew off some steam last week, he thinks they should do the same for bragging rights. Next week, a three-way to determine the official tag team of the Inner Circle, and he thinks he and MJF are gonna win. Of course, Ortiz and Santana think they’re gonna win, and Sammy thinks he and Hager are gonna win. Chris points out the obvious Sammy Hagar joke but Guevara doesn’t get it because he’s a fetus.
They all flip the bird together in a sign of unity.
The Inner Circle are interviewed somewhere and Evil Uno says everything they do from now on is in Brodie Lee’s name, and they need to be better people. That starts next week when “Hangman” Adam Page tags with them! John Silver fanboys all over him and Alex Reynolds asks when he’s going to join the stable. Silver suggests next week, after the match, and Adam agrees that he’ll let them know after the match.
They celebrate like it’s a done deal and Page walks two feet away to drink.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, we get some hype for the awards show AEW is doing later this month.
A video package recapping the build for Darby Allin vs. Brian Cage follows.
Backstage, Kenny Omega, the Young Bucks, and Don Callis are interviewed.
Callis is overjoyed to see the band back together with all the belts, and he insists on separate entrances for the trio.
Kenny makes his entrance and Callis gets on the mic, saying tonight is special and Justin Roberts can take the night off, because he’ll handle it. He introduces Kenny’s very special friends and tag partners, your world tag team champions... THE GOOD BROTHERS!
Danny Limelight & Varsity Blondes (Brian Pillman, Jr. & Griff Garrison vs. Good Brothers (Doc Gallows & Karl Anderson) & Kenny Omega
Danny Limelight gets a nice big of shine on Omega after the initial chaos, as do the Blondes running Gallows & Gun off. They even get a little bit of a heat segment to work Kenny over, but Anderson puts an end to that and we go to break.
Back from commercial, the Blondes get a nearfall off a Hart Attack on Anderson, the babyfaces refuse to die but eventually things go the way they must...
Good Brothers & Kenny Omega win by pinfall with Magic Killer on Danny Limelight.
Post-match, Jon Moxley makes his entrance and attacks Omega! Gallows and Anderson try to break him away, he gains the advantage on them briefly before That Damn Numbers Game. Lucha Brothers make the save, wrestlers pour out of the locker room to break things up but they fail and Mox dives into the crush! The Young Bucks come down, they square up with Moxley, Gallows and Anderson come back into the fray, Kenny Omega and Don Callis leave and we go back to the pull-apart.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, Rebel welcomes us to tonight’s edition of the Waiting Room and introduces Dr. Britt Baker, DMD.
Baker tells everybody in the crowd to check under their seats for a surprise but nothing’s there. Ha ha, is joke! Anyway, she congratulates Cody Rhodes on the Go Big Show and demands he make one good choice as to who his guy is out of Sting, Shaq, or Snoop Dogg, to try and make up for the terrible decision he made on his neck.
Rhodes comes out to be her guest. She congratulates him on his coming child and snarks that the kid will probably get an action figure before she does. But wait, she has another guest— Jade Cargill! She gets in Cody’s face and says if Brandi ever returns, she’s gonna beat her ass. Red Velvet appears, they get into a slap fight and just start outright brawling before the crowd of wrestlers pulls them apart!
After the dust settles, we get a replay of Britt attacking Thunder Rosa a while back.
Rosa sends a promo in, saying that Baker loves her talk show because she likes to get in people’s business, but soon she’ll have to do the work and wrestle her. Tony Khan told her very clearly that a match between the two of them is a huge deal for AEW and he wants to give them a big stage for it. And that stage is Beach Break on Feb. 3!
Britt loses her mind and says it’s not happening and Tony said she doesn’t have to do it.
FTR (Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood) vs. Jurassic Express (“Jungle Boy” Jack Perry & Marko Stunt)
Stunt and Wheeler to start, collar and elbow, Cash manhandles him into his corner and makes the tag but Marko turns the speed up, Perry tags in, and the two teams square off! Settling on Stunt and Harwood, into the corner, Stunt shoves him and slaps him across the face! Putting Dax into the corner, beating him down, referee Paul Turner calls for the break.
Snap suplex, tag to Wheeler, double slam, Marko gets away and fires up and makes the tag. Manhattan Drop into an enzuigiri, Atomic Drop into an enzuigiri, double whip, meeting of the minds, double kicks, assisted Frankensteiner sends Harwood to the floor! Wheeler follows after, Stunt dives into both guys and Jungle Boy follows with an Asai Moonsault!
Jurassic Express pose and we go to break.
Back from commercial, FTR are in control and working Stunt over. Gory Special, he reverses it into a sunset flip! Harwood tags in, powerbomb attempt, float over, tag to Jungle Boy! Forearms, back elbow, back elbow, forearm, into the corner, uppercut, bulldog blocked but he hits a lariat on the rebound! Lungblower, cover... NOPE! Jockeying for position in the turnbuckles... AVALANCHE FRANKENSTEINER BUT WHEELER BREAKS THE PIN UP!
Cash in for a suplex, blocked, Jack hits a sheerdrop brainbuster on him! Harwood with a schoolboy and a handful of tights, only two, superkick connects, tag to Marko, assisted senton... NOPE! Looking for a shiranui, blocked and countered into a slam! Elbow pad off, Dax hits a wicked lariat but Stunt hits a mule kick low blow in the corner! Shiranui connects this time... NOT ENOUGH!
Marko to the floor after the kickout, Tully Blanchard throws him into the ringpost and Jungle Boy chases him around the ring! Cash hits him with a lariat and throws him into the barricade, Stunt back inside, tag made...
FTR win by pinfall with Big Rig on Marko Stunt.
Serena Deeb (c) vs. Tay Conti (NWA Women’s World Championship)
Collar and elbow, feeling out on the mat, Deeb catches a leg lariat, Conti with a trip into a heel hook! Out of the hold, side headlock takeover, headscissors counter, judo throw into a stalemate. Test of strength, Serena with a back roll escape into a wristlock, manipulating the hand, Tay out with a kip-up, flying triangle choke, forearms, blocked, snapmare!
Off the ropes, sliding forearm from the champion, cover for two! Detox blocked, trading pins, scissors kick for two and we go to break.
Back from commercial, swinging full nelson slam from Conti... NOPE! Bodyscissors, transitioning into a Lotus Lock but Deeb counters into a Stretch Muffler! Out, into the corner, big back and forth, Gory Special reversed, arms trapped...
Serena Deeb wins by pinfall with Detox to retain the NWA Women’s World Championship.
Commentary hypes up next week’s show, including a birthday match for Brodie Lee, Jr., and Nyla Rose vs. Leyla Hirsch, which my lovely wife Josie will enjoy very much.
Brian Cage makes his entrance and we go to break.
Brian Cage vs. Darby Allin (c) (AEW TNT Championship)
Allin out the gates with a dropkick and a wicked suicide dive! Smashing Cage’s head into the barricade, back inside, off the ropes again, another dive but Brian catches him into a suplex on the floor! Back inside, military press... CAGE PRESS SLAMS DARBY OVER THE ROPES AND TO THE FLOOR THROUGH THE TIMEKEEPER’S TABLE! Another press slam takes Allin back inside, Brian just destroying him as we see that Darby’s busted open at the forehead!
Uppercuts in the corner, release German suplex, a biel into the turnbuckles, referee Paul Turner checks on Allin but Cage goes for grounded punches and has to be pulled aside! Darby out on his feet, and we go to break.
Back from commercial, Allin gets a boot up but Cage catches him on a dive and hits an F-5... DARBY KICKS OUT AT ONE! Repeated powerbombs, the last one a release jackknife! Allin flips him the bird, defiant, and Brian lifts him up for a routh... AWESOME BOMB OVER THE ROPES AND TO THE STAGE! Another slam, a nearfall, Cage drags the ring steps over, fireman’s carry on the apron but Darby gets away!
Dropkick, Brian hangs onto the ropes but Allin bites his fingers and he falls onto the steps! COFFIN DROP OFF THE TOP AND INTO THE STEPS! Back inside, Coffin Drop attempt caught, Darby bites him to escape, takes his belt off, standing Diamond Dust staggers Cage and he ties his feet together with his belt! Sitting on his back, hammering him with punches, he charges in and Brian is able to drop him and take the belt off him!
Darby with a Yoshi Tonic... SO CLOSE! Shotgun dropkick connects, up top for a double stomp, up top again but Hook and Ricky Starks run interference and crotch Allin on the turnbuckles! The lights go down and Sting is here! He hits Starks with the baseball bat a few times, Cage up top, Darby counters...
Darby Allin wins by pinfall with an avalanche Crucifix Driver to retain the AEW TNT Championship.
Post-match, Team Taz lick their wounds on the stage while Sting and Skateboard Sting look on from the ring.
That’s the show, folks.
