NWA announces date for new programming on The CW app

Details have been fuzzy on the relationship between the National Wrestling Alliance and The CW television network. For example, the debut of NWA content on The CW app was slipped under the radar without an official announcement. Before that, there were rumors of the NWA inking a TV deal, then there were rumors of heat over a fake cocaine snort during an NWA PPV that may have put them on thin ice. This whole story has been a huge mystery. At least, we now have one piece of concrete information.

The NWA officially announced a date for new programming on The CW app. Get ready for fresh episodes of NWA Powerrr coming February 6. The CW app promotes itself as, “Available everywhere. No login. No subscription. Just FREE.”

That’s all we know at this moment in time, but three cheers for progress! Seriously though, this could become a big step in a positive direction for the NWA and the wrestling business in general. More exposure could lead to more money, which in turn trickles down to the wrestlers and potentially offering another viable destination for free agents.

There is no mention on what to expect for those NWA Powerrr episodes on The CW app, however, a good guess would be content from the NWA Paranoia event being taped on January 13. The top matches for that card include:

  • NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship: EC3 (c) vs. Matt Cardona in The Ultimate Match of Death
  • NWA Women’s World Championship: Kenzie Paige (c) vs. Tiffany Nieves
  • NWA World Tag Team Championship: Blunt Force Trauma (c) with Aron Stevens vs. Tim Storm & Jax Dane
  • NWA National Heavyweight Championship: Thrillbilly Silas Mason (c) vs. Paul Burchill
  • NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship: Colby Corino (c) vs. Mecha Wolf
  • NWA World Television Championship unification: Big Strong Mims (c) vs. Max The Impaler (c)

Will you be tuning in to the NWA on The CW app? If not, what does the NWA have to do to earn your interest?
