AEW's 2 touring rosters.

As a sort of Chapter 4 to 3 of my previous posts: 2023 AEW Depth Chart, Splitting AEW into 3 rosters, & AEW 2023 taping schedule; I wanted to tie this all together ahead of AEW's "Second Coming" with the June 17th launch of Collision. AEW seemingly will run shows Wednesday and Saturday on most weeks, with Dynamite and Collision as the headlining brands. Rampage is rumored to be the new AEW Dark, and you also have ROH featuring many of AEW's lower card acts.

The main driving force behind the rumored brand split is because of CM Punk and The Elite's refusal to be in the same building together. With 7 hours of weekly TV, AEW can easily allow for this, even if it isn't optimal. There are rumors of a hard brand split with only champions traveling between brands. I don't expect that to be formally announced, but we will use these two general rules for our roster split. Champions will all be assigned to one traveling night, and once they lose their title they will exclusively appear on that night until winning their next title. I used the Collision graphics as a baseline for the Saturday roster.

With AEW taping Wednesday and Saturday as a general rule, I will be running Dynamite & Rampage tapings Wednesday, and Collision & ROH tapings on Saturday. My booking philosophy is Rampage will be enhancement talent for Dynamite, and ROH will be for Collision. Meaning, Dark Order are a Rampage tag team, they can & will win matches on Rampage, but if they are wrestling on Dynamite, 99% of the time they will lose.

As my previous posts, I will break the roster into 4 divisions, but that does not mean they are exclusively in that division. The Elite will compete for singles, tag, & trios titles, but are listed in the Trios division.

Given the current champions heading into Double or Nothing: MJF, Orange Cassidy, Jamie Hayter, & Jade Cargill can also appear on Collision. Lucha Brothers and The Embassy will also travel to defend their ROH titles, but ROH champions typically won't be on Wednesdays. Wardlow, FTR, HOOK, & House of Black will also appear on Dynamite.

One interesting wrinkle to this would be what to do when Battle of the Belts occurs 4 times a year. You could either just tape it and air both Rampage and BOTB on tape delay on Wednesdays; or you could do my preferred option and shuffle the shows that week, taping Wednesday and Friday. Dynamite and Collision would tape together, while Rampage, BOTB, & ROH would run a smaller more unique building that week. BOTBs has typically been the 1st Friday of every quarter, but under this game plan I would book them more strategically when Collision is up against NFL, Play-off sports, WWE & UFC PPVs, etc. Collision likely does worse those weeks in the ratings anyway, so have those be your 4 taped Collisions a year. Punk or The Elite could wrestle on Friday that week and do a pre-tape for Dynamite/Collision as a way to keep the separation, as well as draw extra eyes/ticket sales to Friday. Doing a Rampage/BOTB/ROH taping would also allow for more experimental venue booking, and I would like to see things like running a 2,000 seat theater for those shows to try to get special & unique visual for those episodes.

With ROH also being the place for opportunities for indy talent to try out, ROH will have less of a hard split if those talents are needed for enhancement work on a Wednesday.

What do you think Cagesiders? Does a roster split make both rosters too weak? What show would you rather attend?
