Mercedes Moné is currently only contracted for two more New Japan/Stardom dates, per this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Dave Meltzer writes that the Bushiroad-owned promotions apparently have opponents and dates picked already picked out.
First up will be AZM, a 20 year old rising star who’s already exchanged words indirectly with the wrestler formerly known as Sasha Banks:
You’re gonna love the taste of #Moné #STARDOM https://t.co/9fZW1NFpZ6

That match would happen at New Japan’s April 8 Sakura Genesis show in the iconic Tokyo Ryōgoku Kokugikan. It would be followed a few weeks later with a match against Mayu Iwatani on April 23 at Yokohama Arena. Reports are Stardom hopes to make that the biggest women’s show in decades.
Iwantani is an interesting opponent, as Meltzer reports NJPW & Stardom originally planned for her to be the first IWGP Women’s champ. A financial dispute led to KAIRI becoming the title’s inaugural holder instead, but Iwatani’s money issues have apparently been worked out. If Moné doesn’t agree to more dates with Bushiroad, Iwatani winning it on April 23 would make sense.
What would be next for Mercedes? That’s probably up to her new talent agency. But we know of at least one interested tag partner out there, too...
