Mercedes Moné files for trademarks... and possibly teases WWE return

Mercedes Moné is very good at being a professional wrestler, especially the part about keeping fans talking — and guessing.

Even though she hasn’t been in the ring since injuring her ankle in a match this past May, speculation about New Japan/Stardom’s plans for her return popped up in reports during the early months of her time on the sidelines. Moné made an appearance at AEW’s All In PPV in London’s Wembley Stadium in August, amplifying speculation she’d work with Tony Khan’s company once she was cleared.

And with several other ex-WWE stars returning to that company since Triple H took the creative reins (including one who left under circumstances similar to her own exit), there’s been rumors Mercedes could once again become Sasha Banks in the not-to-distant future.

The Boston gal seemed to be leaning into that idea this week, posting a picture of herself in front of TD Garden on her Instagram Story right around when WWE’s Holiday Tour was scheduled to hit that Beantown venue...

She didn’t show up with the Raw roster for that Weds., Dec. 27 house show. And now word is spreading about a few trademarks Mercedes filed for on Dec. 22 that she might not use if she re-signed with WWE: Moné Talks, Time is Moné, and Moné Wear. The first is the only one which explicitly mentions pro wrestling in its uses, which include podcasts and interviews:

Entertainment services, namely, providing podcasts in the field of professional wrestling, sports entertainment, music, popular culture, inspirational messages, life advice, and acting; Entertainment services, namely, providing video podcasts in the field of professional wrestling, sports entertainment, music, popular culture, inspirational messages, life advice, and acting; Providing online interviews featuring a professional wrestler and actress in the field of professional wrestling, sports entertainment, music, popular culture, inspirational messages, life advice, and acting for entertainment purposes

What does it all mean? Hell if I know! Except that with Moné having made it clear last month that she’s started training for her return to the ring, we should probably expect more real and false clues for her next move.
