Even if reports that his on-screen work for The Iron Claw ended up on the cutting room floor are true, Maxwell Jacob Friedman still has his executive producer credit on Sean Durkin’s film about the Von Erich family.
That assured the AEW World champion an invite to the red carpet Los Angeles premiere* last night (Dec. 11). And it was there that MJF met up with someone who knows a thing or three about being the face of a wrestling company while launching your own brand in Hollywood...
Talk about unexpected John Cena!
Actually, it’s not too surprising we can see Cena at something like The Iron Claw premiere. With the writers & actors strikes over, John’s focus has returned to Hollywood. The flick is receiving a lot of positive buzz, and cast members like Jeremy Allen White have been talking about how pro wrestlers are artists while promoting the film. It seems like the kind of thing Cena would want to support.
Friedman seems like the kind of enterprising young man John would want to support, too. Perhaps that was what he was telling MJF in this footage captured by Chris Van Vliet:

We imagine Cena is telling Max how much he respects his hustle, and to never give up.
Whatever they said to each other, it’s a pretty cool moment between one of the biggest names in pro wrestling and someone who’s off to a great start on joining him in that pantheon.
* The Iron Claw premiered in Dallas — Von Erich country — last month. It’s official release is next week, Dec. 22.
