The Nightly: August 10th, 2022

Hello Nightly!!!

Tonight we take a look at the August 16th, 1999 episode of WCW Monday Nitro. The main story here is that this was the fallout show for Road Wild 1999 and Sid Vicious is going after Hulk Hogan, interrupting the first few matches on the show, and even powerbombing La Parka on a bag of popcorn. Eventually the match is signed, but not before Hogan challenges Sting for the world title next week, which essentially undercuts the main event. Granted, it’s not like Hogan was ever gonna lose the title to Sid anyway, but still. We also get Brian Adam’s being kicked out of NWO Black and White, because believe it or not, they were somehow still a thing.

Overall, this was not a good show. The direction of the show is just kind of bad, and face Hogan as champion isn’t doing anybody or anything any favors. But only one thing can save Nitro for sure next week. Did you guess the debut of The Demon with a live Kiss performance?

On to the Nightly.
